Firefly Online - A follow up thread.

A long while ago, I made a thread following this title for a little while...

It seems that not only is it now NOT happening, but the people making it have disappeared taking a lot of peoples money with them. I must say this is rather disappointing (possibly even illegal? I'm a little unclear on this)

For awhile there was a small card based game on Steam called Firefly Nexus which allowed you to purchase booster packs to try and complete collections, collections unlocked items for the full title. In hindsight, this may have been a bit of a money making scheme before they bailed...

A lot of people have tracked down some of the devs or messaged the studio and have simply been ignored, the publisher is also ignoring everything and no one has heard anything for quite a while now.

Titles fail to fire all the time, that's not that unusual, but the lack of communication is extremely frustrating and disappointing! :/

An inglorious end to a project with a tremendous potential.

    what a lot of people do not realize about crowd funded projects: nothing is guaranteed. It’s an investment, not a purchase.

    I would be surprised if the devs did not have good intention to create the project as described and on budget with the resources they received from the fans, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if the devs were over their heads and their planning and execution was flawed.

    I had the same thought with regards to being in over their heads. The scale of the project was quite ambitious from the get go, especially for a studio that had only really done things like MechRunner or Hidden Mysteries: The White House. . . And an MMO really isn't an easy place to begin.

    They did go so far as to bring in the entire cast in and do voice recordings of them as well as create a vlog with them, but that was about the end of it. The last official anything was back in 2016 with the Facebook post "We're still here. We're still flyin'. Game is still in development. Stay tuned."

    Their website/facebook haven't been updated since 2016 either. The last time someone asked and they answered was with;

    'We wish we could tell you more than what we have been told to say. You will need to contact QMx or Fox for any updates related to FFO.'

    So yea, kinda sucks. I didn't spend anything I wasn't prepared to loose. Pre-Order is always a bit of a gamble with any title.
