The best thing to do right now is to do a siystem serch for balder.exe set to run in campatblity mode and admistater the right click and drag it to your desktop and create a short cut to balder.exe bypassing the beamdog luancher
What worked for me (I had "application stopped working" after clicking Play in introduction to Candlekeep; and also intro didn't show up only some strange zoomed bricks from menu in with you can choose game type, then I had to click for main menu to appear).
I have notebook with Moblity Radeon HD 3650 and what I had to do is to install new driver from here:
Until today I was using driver downloaded by my Windows 8 64 bit. And it was OK for all games. Anyway I think that rather than new driver what has worked for me was Catalyst Control Center and other stuff with I wasn't using earlier. So install all you can what comes with you driver (all this apps that gives you oportunity to change antialiasing and other stuff). I thing that people with nVidia have similar application so you may try to do same thing.
I fixed the game by not having my integrated graphics card run baldur.exe and force it to run on the the nVidia one. What would happen before is I would click play on the launcher and I'd start to hear music, get a white box, then it would crash. I tried playing in compatability, windows vista sp1, mode with the integrated graphics but it still crashed.
I've tried every trick here and nothing works. I've tried every compatibility mode without success. I've moved the applicaton folder out to the root without success. No Matter WHAT I try I keep getting the error "Faulting module name: ntdll.dll". They took an extra 2.5 months to deliver THIS?
@Frosty, thanks, really. I did it but nothing...this is sad ((
Did you see the suggestion to normally run the BG:EE launcher just with your iTunes open, a few posts above?
I know, it sounds silly and absurd, but I got the same error with your same configuration. I tried anything to no avail, until I tried that and it worked. Don't ask me why, but I know it worked for some other people who were receiving the same error message as well...!
