Full screen on Samsung Galaxy s8?

I remember seeing how the game was played on an s8 by the developers. My problem is that the set resolution doesn't use the whole screen and there's no alternative resolutions to choose from. I tried bypassing this forcing the app to use full screen in the settings but that results in inaccurate controls in play. Anyone know how to solve this?
