The mouse scroll wheel does not work in the Journal. This has only been verified in the active Quests page as I've just started the game and the other pages have yet to extend past the height of the display space.
+2. It's annoying that every time I scroll the journal by clicking and dragging it opens a "add entry" page, even on the story triggered entries which should be locked, otherwise what's the point of the separate user created journal? The "story" journal shouldn't be editable or able to add entries. I also noticed that my user journal entries are not sorting properly by when they were created, they are out of order.
1. Please allow mouse wheel scrolling or add a scroll bar. 2. Please either lock the story journal from editing or remove the user journal. It's redundant otherwise. 3. Please ensure user-created journal entries appear sorted correctly in the order they were created.
This is relatively minor stuff, otherwise I'm absolutely loving this game all over again.
It would also be cool to be able to publish user-created journal entries on this site from in-game, so other players could "read the story" of fellow BGers games as they write in their journals. It would allow us to see how others "play" the story. It's almost like fan-fiction.
+3 Agreed. If you drag in the journal area and release inside the page area it jumps to "add entry", but if you release outside the page (boarder area) it will not.
I know, this is not really a bug, but it does bother me a bit....
You can now use the mousewheel to scroll on several sliders and I'm very happy with that. I'm even more happy that we're able to scroll on the mainscreen to zoom in/out on the party.
BUT... In the quest journal, you can't use the mousewheel to scroll, and you have to drag the slider manually. Can you please add the mousewheel scroll there as well?
Holding the mouse button forces the player to edit the text entry of the journal at the instant the button is released, so it would be really helpful if the scrolling could apply to the journal pages too.

There are a few "empty" spaces between journal entries, they are small and its mostly guesswork where to find them but if you do you can scroll the journal without opening entries for editing every time. Hope that works as a stopgap for now.
Could be fixed (for example) by letting you open the edit screen only with a double click.
Workaround until it get fixed:
- Scrolling by grabbing the green text shouldn't open the edit screen - Scrolling up/down until you're in the black are above/below the journal screen shouldn't open the edit screen, either.
An other place where mouse scrolling does something weird - BUY/SELL from a NPC. Scrolling only affects the NPC's shop area and not yours, even when you're in your part of the screen...
@DemiGoth: Oddly enough, using the mouse wheel to scroll in the quest journal worked for me, but only once. I was frowning over the need to click and hold the mouse button to drag-scroll as if it were a touchscreen, tried the mouse wheel out of habit and it scrolled backwards and forwards. Just tried it again after reading this thread and it's not working now. So it may actually be an inconsistent bug.
When scrolling in the personal journal, and releasing the mousebutton while pointing at text, it goes into editing mode for that text block. Expected behavior, would be for no unintentional editing to happen when releasing the mousebutton.
On that note, it would be nice to be able to use normal mouse scroll, instead of that counterintuitive touchpad method in the journal. And a scroll marker to denote where you are in the journal. That would make the journal more consistent with the rest of the game, not to mention a standard PC interface.
Adding a mouse-scroll problem (yes, an other one). In the old-fashioned journal, you can't scroll at all. The whole scrollbar is gone and using the mousewheel is not doing a thing. You can click the entries to edit them, but that only works for those on-screen at the moment.
well like the title says, in the journal if i want to scroll through the entries detayls i have to click on the scroll bar arrows on the sides. Can't scroll with my mouse, or even drag the scroll bar in the journal itself. Could get very frustrating when reading or trying to pass long entries
It does "work" but upon releasing the mousebutton it enters some kind of edit mode, so you wont be able to drag very far before you have to escape edit mode and repeat the process. So basically journal is broken.
Dafojk, if you release your mouse within the text area it goes into edit mode, you just have to release it just above or below the text to avoid this. It annoyed me at first until I figured that out.
I tried searching for any other posts regarding this on the forum, but I was unable to do so, my apologies if it's been posted already.
Observed Behavior: When on the journal screen, where your current active quests are logged, the scrollbar on the right side of the screen does not appear to function. You are unable to grab the scrollbar and drag it downward to scroll the page down, as with any other windows application. Instead it seems that this screen was designed with touchscreen controls in mind, and you must click and hold the mouse button on the scrollbar and drag upwards to scroll the page down, as if dragging it up from below the visual area.
Expected Behavior: When using a windows PC with no touchscreen, the journal page should scroll like every other scroll bar in the game - by dragging it down to move down the list, and up to move up the list - not the opposite.
I'd like to also mention that most things that can be scrolled can also be scrolled by clicking and dragging on the list/textbox in reverse (as if scrolling on a touchscreen/smartphone/ipad/etc). In most cases the scrollbar works in the normal fashion, the character details screen is a working example. It appears as though the journal screen's scrollbar is simply not there at all, and clicking on it is just dragging the textbox contents instead.

When I read my journal, in the "quest" section, and I'm using the mouse wheel to scroll down or up, it's not working.
Describe expected behavior:
Well, it should scroll up or down.
(and I just want to add thanks you for you work! I really enjoy playing BG:EE)
