Hey,
Well the same sort of worked 4 me... I only needed to install new drivers which I thought I already had...
Steam said I had the latest drivers... That wasn't the case after checkin ATI I found that new drivers where available... After updating it works didn't even have to restart...
Specs are something like: iCore5 16 gb ram 6600 Radeon HD
Hope u'all get it working..
I set compatibility og admin on... haven't tested if it works without that... Seems like the driver was the difference...
It's certainly something about the ATI drivers, but re-installing alone is very tricky. I re-installed the latest drivers four times yesterday, but nothing changed. At the moment I am running the game with the weird "iTunes solution".
I guess @sprytnyserek has a point when he suggest to clean the remaining drivers after uninstalling them. That maybe be plausible. Somewhat, though, I wonder if maybe it's just one of the points he suggest which is the crucial one, but we just don't know which one...
Ok, now I know. I may forget about the game running on my laptop.. My video drivers are the newest as well as the oldest ones... My card X2300 seems to be like 'Realms'... Forgotten by AMD aka ATI. Switching 3D Accelaration and Backward Compatibility 3d in Baldur.ini on and off doesn't help too. atioglxx.dll is used anyway. What's the best solution? Possibly to buy a new pc. But what graphics to choose? ATI - problems, nVidia - problems, Intel - unsupported... 8}

This worked for me! Completely removing the video driver and re-installing it, is allowing me to play without anymore problems. Thanks!
