@Sour thanks for the feedback. Some of the travel regions in the mod are indeed a bit defiant, I noticed it too that the party does not always walk through depending on where they are when clicked onto. The walking to and fro is something that is easily missed when designing areas. What gets on my nerves is the way to the tanner and to the farmer and fletcher.
I'd be very interested in any typos and grammar corrections.

@Thrasymachus that sounds like something went very wrong in your install. Sorry to hear you couldn't play the mod. Would you post your weidu.log? I'm not sure it would lead to a crash, but if another mod did not check the pvrz naming before applying, it could be that area graphics of BST got scrambled.

Happy to post my weidu.log -- but I'm not sure how to do that?

(This was the first time I've had a problem with BST. Everything else I installed -- all other mods -- worked fine.)

@Thrasymachus It should be in the main game folder. You can open it with a simple text editor and post the content here in a spoiler.

@Thrasymachus thanks! Looks unsuspicious to me.. Maybe it'll help us in case something like this happens again.

    @Thrasymachus and @jastey

It's been a while, but just in case. This exact same thing happened to me the first few times I tried to play this mod because I copied/pasted the 'master' into the 'released' version (since there were small updates I thought it would help, even though I know and I have read again and again : "use the latest release" So, totally my dumb fault). But anyway for my current playthrough, I used the official released, and of course, everything works as it should.

PS: not finished yet, but it is very fun and good, so far. Thanks for the mod!
  • jasteyjastey Member Posts: 2,775
@Ranis Thanks for the kind words!
There is no other change than the worldmap icon in the master that is not in the latest release, so... I'll just assume that the copy&paste did something weird in your game and hope this bug didn't somehow creep into the mod. The map icon is not related to areas crashing, I mean the IE engine is prone to surprises but this is really not connected.

When I'll continue working on v1 I'll shake the hole thing a little and see whether I'll find some moths (or gremlins..) :o

How to install the newest version on top of the previous one
My version is the second to latest. Can I just install over?
  • jasteyjastey Member Posts: 2,775
    edited June 16
@Thalamond no, never install over in IE modding. That it not how it works, unfortunately.
You'd have to uninstall the older version, delete the mod folder, copy in the new one, and install the new version.
If the mod is in the middle of your install list of a current install, do not do this because it will also uninstall all mods that were installed later (because of how weidu's backup of game files work). It is recommended not to change the install for a running game, because the saves could lead to scrambled texts etc, inside the game.

Alright, thanks. It is sad that a more modern mod management doesn't exist.
  • jasteyjastey Member Posts: 2,775
It's not about that, it's the engine that imposes the limitations. And, well, it's a feature actually, because if it'd work differently ("simpler"), we couldn't install several mods in one game, at least not the way it is common now for IE. And, I might add, unique for these games to be able to combine mods that make changes to the same game ressources.

    Two mini-bugs I encountered in vEAOB.8.

BUG: Second floor is referred to as "first floor" in journal entry.
At the start of the quest "An Orphan in the Seatower", you get the following journal entry:
Inside the Balduren's Seatower Inn I met a man who is travelling with a boy. The boy should appearently be picked up by a lady who resides on the first floor but so far did not make up her mind to really take over the boy. I could ask her what this is all about.
But Lady Springfall actually resides on the second floor of the inn.

BUG: Lady Springfall's dialog breaks when you lie to her.
During the quest "An Orphan in the Seatower", if you take both "(Lie)" responses in the conversation with Lady Springfall, that conversation ends abruptly with "NO VALID REPLIES OR LINKS".
It looks like each "(Lie)" response does:
    IncrementGlobal("bsOrphanLies","LOCALS",1)

but then after the second lie, both of Lady Springfall's possible answers check:
    Global("bsOrphanLies","LOCALS",1)

    when one should instead check:
    Global("bsOrphanLies","LOCALS",2)

Also, shouldn't she be leaving at this point? At least this is what the Legal Attendant's dialog implies.

(A third bug I encountered is already mentioned as fixed in the vEAOB.9 changelog.)

Depends if it is supposed to be American English or British English :p

I think you are right, this was mistake from German where the first floor is the first one above ground floor, but since BG is - mostly - American English it should be the second in this case.

BUG: Lady Springfall's dialog breaks when you lie to her.
Thanks! I can't believe this never turned up. So much to "there is not enough evil options in BG", lol!
    Thanks, fixed both locally.
Lady Springfall will leave then correctly, too.

Well, strictly speaking it's Canadian isn't it? So it could really go one way or the other.

@Isewein yes, and there is "both" ways of spelling in BG(II). But all in all, American English predominates, so somewhere it was decided to stick to it in mods. (Could have been for BG1NPC). I settled for it, too. At least tried to.
