ShadowM - concerning being encumbered after raising my character's strength, you suggested dropping items and picking them back up. Do you mean drop EVERYTHING? My character has a TON of stuff in his backpack, it would be a bit tedious to drop everything and pick it back up. And I have more than one character which I did not build well and will have a slight strength increase.
What did you raise his strength to? and how much weight is on him here the chart for encumbrance.2DA
I believe these are increments of a tenth of a pound, So 60 is 6 pounds.
His strength is now 18, it was 12. He is carrying 173 pounds of equipment and loot, and with strength at 18, he is able to carry 200 pounds. So he should be unencumbered, but I still have the encumbered effect on him.
I hate to do this, but I have to realistic - my characters are stuck in encumbrance, and I don't see a way around it. I might have to replay those characters through the first chapter again....
A thought I had a couple days ago..... when you guys use the character editor for NWN:EE, where do you draw the line with stats?I mean, how far will you go in increasing a character's stats before saying, "that's enough"? The way I see it (right now), a player using a character editor can increase stats to their heart's content, but when will they stop? It's quite possible to increase enough to make the game simple and easy, but in my eyes, that kinda defeats the purpose of the game.
There are certain times I horde gear like in SOU when the merchant is giving me bad prices and some of these items are actually useful in HOTU, in the OC there are plenty of merchants and at least one of them will give a good price, if you have an item worth 1200 at a shop go to the other shops and compare prices before selling.
If your Character has a legit STR of 12 than you can't carry a full inventory of loot, you should sell off some crap or store them in a container at town but make sure to sell it or take it with you before finishing the chapter, certain items will boost your STR...if your lucky enough to find them.
As for encumbrance well if your character is under a status effect like Strength drain it would lower your carry weight and a trip to the temple for healing will fix or a Restoration Scroll, but if this is a bug or something well you could start again with new character, I don't recommend editing a character in NWN as it cheapens the experience but that's up to you.
I agree with stat augmentation cheapening the experience, it was not how the game was designed and not meant to be played. I had to change the strength for my monk, seeing as how 12 in strength simply will not suffice. I have played through NWN:EE three times (twice with a fighter class and once with a wizard), what I am doing now is replaying to see what I missed before, also it's been a long time since those play-throughs and I am also playing classes that I have never tried before. I am so, so tempted to boost stats for my characters, it is enticing, but that leads back to my initial question - with stat augmentation, when does the player draw the line?
The Monk benefits from everything except INT and CHA which means there isn't enough points for all that you may need, items are needed to boost your weaker stats such as Boots of the Sunsoul +4 to boost AC and DEX, Belt of Fire Giant +4 and in the OC the companion quests give some unique items to boost DEX, STR, CON & CHA.
The gear I'd be looking for is, Robes of the Dark Moon, Boots of the Sunsoul, Gloves of Long Death, Ring of the Rogue, Amulet of the Red Tiger, Ring of Elemental Resistance, Belt of Fire Giant Strength, Golden Circlet and a Cloak of Fortification.
The Ring of the Rogue and Amulet of the Red Tiger are companion items that can be upgraded.
I have completed NWN:EE three times... twice with a fighter and once with a wizard. I am so, so tempted to play the game with glorified stats, it might be fun, but again, I don't want to cheat and spoil the experience. I am thinking about playing the OC with the classes I have never used (I play D&D 3.5 here, only used a rogue and a wizard), I think it would be cool. And to add to that, I can download new quests and adventures via the NWN vault. I am torn between those elevated stats and playing the game "naturally".
