What else can I say, this is a disappointment.

I've got an intel atom acer laptop, so obviously I'm out. Crashes after character creation and the candlekeep intro. Tried every fix people have suggested on here.

I understand there will be bugs in releases, but how can they let something like this happen? A dealbreaker for anyone with intel or nvidia. What % of PC users have some form of Intel or Nvidia card?...

I have been looking forward to this for so long. What else can I say, this is a disappointment.

If it's any form of consolation, it doesn't work for me either with an ATI card... crashes at the same point.

so what will it work on?

I am interested as to what the developers were using when they said "okay, it works, it's ready"

"Thousands of people using thousands of different variants of computers" is all I can really say about this. They'll fix it when they can.

I feel for you guys. I've got an ATI and it works fine. However I think they should of waited another 2 weeks and maybe brought in more testers with different rigs to test the builds. I'm sure they'll fix everything. They've got their hearts and souls into this project.

I've got an ATI but Microsoft just says this thing is incompatible, with what I don't know. I open it, give it permission run and squat happens. I've got plenty of room and a good graphics set up so?/?

    What's your card?

    My system specs are

    Windows 7

    Intel I5 2500K

    ASUS P8 Z68-V

    8 GIGS of Ram

    ATI/AMD Radeon 6900 series

Drivers are all up to date except maybe the motherboard.

Always post your specs...not just the intel atom laptop.

Are your drivers up to date?

I agree! Too many people have specific configurations

Read that thread. Most of the people posted in that are likely having the same problem as you.
  • amerediameredi Member Posts: 4
yup, read that thread, did everything in it. just doesnt work.
  • I have a brand new computer and it works extremely well. The only problem I've had is broken quests. eg. Firebeard scroll and Tethoril. Tethoril wasn't in the game. LOL. WTF?

    My specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
    Intel i7-2600 @ 3.40 GHz
    8.00 GB
    GeForce GTX 670

Maybe they tested BGEE on new computers?

    Windows 7 64 Bit
    i7 3820 4.2Ghz
    8 GB RAM
    Dual 1GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6870 - Crossfire

Game will not launch for me at all. I've tried from the BeamDog launcher as well as from the baldur.exe. Attempted to launch baldur.exe under every available compatibility mode all with the same results. Baldurs gate process starts and then crashes after a few seconds.

I tested it on both a computer with an ATI card and Intel one too, no crashes, perhaps it's more drivers related?

With Windows 7 Service Pack 1?? I too have crossfire and 8 GB Ram but with AMD FX 6 core. It launches fine for me.

I am intel as well. Tried the fixes mentioned above and nothng worked for me. I am hoping there is a fix soon.
  • begolf00begolf00 Member Posts: 152
Well it even says on the beam dog store that intel graphic chipsets are not supported. I don't even know if they can fix this.

Required System Memory (MB) 512 MB
Minimum Graphics OpenGL 2.0 compatible (Intel graphics chipsets are NOT supported)
    Processor Speed (GHz) 1 GHZ

As much as I wanted this to turn out well, gotta agree with the original poster. While I was excited about some of the new additions, what I liked most about it is the idea that I could multiplay with friends without the whole, 3rd party work-around programs (and the time given to make those work).

Unfortunately, MP does not work. Even if you can (using 3rd party programs) get into the mp game, upon zoning out of candlekeep you will be hit with game breaking bugs.

    http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/8386/multiplayer-bugs#latest

"Online multiplayer has been upgraded to include matchmaking functionality, and games can be played across multiple platforms. Adventurers on iPad, Mac, PC and Android Tablets can all play Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition together."

Sorry, its just hard to believe they didnt know MPer would be broken on release and continued saying the above anyhow...

    My system:

    Windows Vista SP2, 32-bit

    SoundBlaster card Fatal1ty

    Intel Quad-core (q6400, I think. Older quad.)

Launcher closes without an error, without launching the game. The below error is in the Windows logs (I have 2010, 2008, 2005 C++ Redistributable. I checked the C++ version in the registry and it's current (mentioned in another post as version conflict could cause this).

I don't know if this will help at all but just make sure the BG:EE is not installed in C: Program Files (x86). Some people seem to be having problems when the put it there.
  • MagwitchMagwitch Member Posts: 2
It's not all Nvidia cards. I have a GTX 285 and have no issues with crashing.
  • certainfoolcertainfool Member Posts: 1
I have gtx 480's in sli in win7 x64. I had problems with the game crashing until I re-installed the game, launching the installer with 'administrator rights.' Has run smoothly since. Hope this helps.

My screen is all jagged. Cutscenes and menu works.

    Windows XP Media Center Edition
    2GB of RAM
ATI Radeon Mobility X300 drivers are as up to date as I can find.

Nothing and no response to my thread. I want a refund if they can't fix it. I will just get the Mac Edition which I know will work as its not an nVidia.I should've waited for that. :-/

I'm running a NVidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti. No problems here minus a few annoying things. Graphics wise though it's good to go.

That's not a laptop, that's a netbook. Computing power equivalent of something midrange from the time BG was new.. also, works just fine on my PC which has both Intel and nVidia hardware.

Hate to nitpick, but a netbook should be plenty powerful enough to run Baldur's Gate. In 1998 when I bought the game I was playing on a Pentium Pro 180Mhz with 32 MB of RAM. I realize that they have theoretically increased the requirements but 1 Ghz and 512 Mb of RAM should be plenty.
