Bad stuttering on a high-end PC

This actually isn't my PC; I'm asking for a friend.

Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
Processor: Ryzen 7 3700x 8-core
16 gb of RAM
Windows 10 64 bit.

Player is experiencing nonstop lag and stutter. I did check if my friend's drivers were up to date. Any help? FPS jumps from 60 to 30.

Hi! In order to help, we need more information. Your friend should create a report at https://beamdog.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals and include the info when/where it's stuttering for them, which mods they use, etc.

What sound does your friend have? I found my realtek sound was causing huge freezes with the latest drivers so got a cheap soundblaster and tried it and it stopped the freezing.

Actually, if I remember correctly, updating his sound drivers is what worked. But I could be wrong.
