The problem is instead of making an optimized GUI (and fonts too) in High Res for PCs and a Low Res for tablets, they just made one for tablets an gave a shit on PCs as nearly all developers do too these days. It's a shame that this great game dies as a cheap tablet port. Even the mutliplayer does not work for I think most of the PC gamers... please read this: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/8942/unbelievable

Next time, act less like a geek, and more like a human, by waiting before you send your vast sums of money off to the company. If you had, you would have, no doubt, decided that the game is not worth it for you. 'Great game dying' is such a geek over exaggeration as to be laughable.

I'm going to guess that an HD GUI texture pack is going to be made available at some point, as mod or otherwise.

The blurry font problem, though. That looks like it's a rendering problem.

    I'll just leave these here:

(Note: The blurry font only appears in the journal section, not the quests sections - although the fonts in those sections "get bolded" when clicking on buttons - which might be indicative of the problem?)

I like the GUI pretty much. The fonts are amazing. Sometimes I mistake 2 for 9 when rolling for attributes but that's my problem. I'll get use to it eventually. :)

My only problem with the GUI is the quick-use toolbar is screwy. Spells and items should both be clumped together at the very least. And now that we've got widescreen support, and that toolbar has those two big icon-sized empty spots between those pointless clumps, there's no excuse for not allowing us 4 quick-spell and 4 quick-item shortcuts.

As for the GUI being low-res... it's scaled to fit the screen at the appropriate size. The high-resolution mods did not give you a high-resolution GUI... because the GUI didn't scale. So the higher your resolution, the smaller the GUI was relatively speaking.

I do think Beamdog should have the GUI at at least 1080p (and the movies, too, for that matter) but it's so far down on my list of things that need to be changed it may as well not be there at all.

    Heya said:

but the journal and spellbooks seem to have lost a bit of their charm.

    +1

Scrolling in journal is pain imo

I run @ 1920x1200 and its looks good and clear

    @ShnizmuffiN

Those are good images, and pretty clearly show the shadow effect on text that gives it that blurry look. I get the same thing at 1920x1200.

@Tibster does your journal / item description text not look like that? What's your video card / driver?

This belongs in General Discussion, so I'm moving it there.

Incidentally, I think I overheard someone saying that the font issue is being worked on. Don't quote me on that, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it improved in the next patch.

To be honest I have never played the original Baldur's Gate but the GUI in the Enhanced Edition is very good.
