Forgot to save the game! Nooooo!!!

Just got to play, and after only 10 stat rolls I got an 18/00 strength!!!

So I created a level 1 fighter that would switch to cleric at level 2, and be decent in mellee.

His stats were str 18/00 Int 10 Wis 18 Dex 10 Con 10 Cha 18 (for roleplay)

I explored candlekeep and when I ventured out into the world I was killed by a wolf or some sort of animal.

I went to reload and discovered I had not saved the game.

Even worse, there is no autosave!

Alas poor Hector, such a short life.

There is autosave. Points may have been moved.

Quicksave button is on the side of the HUD.

Ok, if there is an autosave, how do you reload it?

No savegames appear when I select load.

You should get an autosave right at the start of the game once you have made your character.

That would be great, but when I select load, no games appear.

Is the autosave not on the same screen as regular saves?

That does sound frustrating but with 10 Con and 10 Dex I think Hector's life expectancy was always going to be on the short side.

Yes it should be, are you not getting it?
Can you try saving the game normally and see if it appears? Otherwise you must be experiencing a very serious and frustrating bug

I was so happy to read this. I'm still laughing. I love you.

Somebody else also wrote about the same situation; no autosave, and since they hadn't made a manual save, no save whatsoever. Sounds like a bug. I haven't seen it myself since my game does autosaves. I wonder if it has something to do with them not making any manual saves?

In any case: save wise, save often, my friends. 'q' for quicksave.

I didn't get an autosave either. Fortunately, I did a normal save, because my game crashed shortly after starting with a 92 point character.

nice, i settled for an 85 point, because i couldn't seem to get higher (was wondering if it was capped honestly :P )

Quick save with Q, and quick load with L. Do this constantly.

Save in new slot every now and then.

    Lesson learned :)

Newer games have spoiled me with autosave.

There will never be another Hector. *moment of silence*

While Hector was repeatedly swinging his flail and missing the beast, his last consoling thought was that Imoen might flee to safety.

    Ouch, that strength.

Silly suggestion, but have you tried scrolling up? I seem to remember that the Autosave isn't on the screen because it defaults to the manual saves. But if you scroll up one, it may be there.

I did not try. The screen had four blank savegame slots.

If that works, you have saved Hector from oblivion!

Hector, get up! I command you to return from the Great Beyond!
