Can’t import character on new Ipad

Please help. I just got a new IPad and lost my old one. Before I lost it I saved a character file and emailed it to myself. On my new IPad I downloaded the file. When I go to the game to import my character in a new game it doesn’t appear. I don’t seem to have any access to Baldur Gate files like I would on a PC, so I can’t place my file next to the regenerated characters available in the game. How can I import my character? Thanks.
