Missing text, "Placeholder" bug occurring while NOT in a Beta!

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Tested with and without mods, no betas active. I keep running into "placeholder" text in my journal and in in-game conversations, including the one with the druids and trophy hunters in Cloakwood. Please help!

    Please uninstall the game, clear the override folder and try again.

    Did, same issue. I have resigned myself to missing text.

    Sounds like something borked in your install, this isn't standard behaviour.
