Fire vs Magic Fire

In BG:EE what are the practical differences between damage types FIRE and MAGIC FIRE.

Trying to figure out which one is best to use.

What use cases does MAGIC FIRE apply to? How does BG:EE think about MAGIC FIRE contextually?

    Aside from a few spells/items that grant resistance to Magic Fire damage, nothing else in the game involves it. Same thing for Magic Cold.

    Magic Fire and Magic Cold damage invoke the same overkill death type as Fire and Cold damage, respectively, but otherwise are in no way related to them.
