New Player Totally Lost on Modding

About 20 years ago, I was in college and purchased my first computer. It came with a combo back of five games, one of them being the first Baldur's Gate. Being a 2nd edition tabletop veteran, I tried playing Baldur's Gate first. However, I just could not get into it. I moved on to Mechwarrior 2, which stole my interest.
Then, starting with Neverwinter a couple years later, I later fell in love with cRPGs. I have played the first 2 fallouts, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, pillars of eternity, wasteland 2, and all 3 shadowrun games. I even became quite good at modding them. I had 200+ mods working perfectly with Skyrim using the advanced patching and load order applications and managed to mod pillars of eternity without issues.
After this long period of time, I finally decided to return to my first failed cRPG, the Baldur Gate series. Purchased the enhanced edition of both games, and also got the new expansion made by Beamdog.
Now I know that the purists will say "your first playthorough should not be modded," but I have 150+ backlog of games (real life makes me play only an hour or two a day) and I doubt I will play any game a second time for quite a while...
But I do usually mod with a more limited approach when doing so on a first playthrough. I download what ever mods are necessary to play the character I want to play. My favorite kit and subrace from 2nd edition was the Grey Elf Bladesinger. I see Eldritch Magic has PnP version of the kit I am looking for, but I do not know where to find a subraces mod. I also want to unify the game in the Enhanced Edition Trilogy (hence why I am posting here and not BG1:EE modding) so I can experience the game together and in a balanced way (although I have no idea the best way to do so, see below). I also want the necessary fix packs, content restorations, and Quality of Life mods. Other than that, I am interested in mechanical improvements, more faithful representations of tabletop, and improved texture/icon mods that bring a more modern experience to the game, but any mod of those 3 categories would have to be high quality like SCS. I might be interested in maybe a quest mod or two to cover obvious dropped plots or missing features, but only the most obvious. So maybe a mod or two like The Cowled Menace?
I just am SO LOST on where to begin! There is all kinds of contrary information on internet regarding BG modding, and it all contradicts. The best 2 examples include what the first process is when modding. It says you need to biff any steam/GoG install when using a mod from the version 2.0 list on this forum, you can also find others that say modmerge/DLCmerge also take care of this, but EE/EET mod install tool suggests it automatically takes care of everything, including those necessities. The next best example is what application is the most updated to unify the trilogy into one playthrough. I can find information that says EE/EET Mod Install Tool is a modern fork of the dead EET mod, and then you can find the reverse saying EE/EET Mod Install Tool is only updating its mod list and not really updating to the version infinity versions, while EET is updated to version 2.5 (no word on 2.6).
Obviously, only one of each is the correct answer. It would be really helpful to newbs like me to get advice of essential modding instruction covering mod preparation activities, lists of fixes, content restorations, and major restructurings (like Tutu and EET or EE/EET Mod Install Tool, whichever is better). in one forum post or even a guide. I know this is an ambitious ask, and unlikely to happen, but some advice would still be very helpful. Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

EET is a conversion mod to play BG:EE, SoD, and BG2:EE in one go as a continuous game. It is actively maintained by swift/k4thos.
EE Setup Tool is a fork of the former BWS. It is an automated install tool to set up a list of mods in a game. It is highly controversial because it uses inofficial modified mod versions and the maintainer does not communicate with the community so the given install order is dubious at places, to say the least.
I did not realize that regarding Tutu. Good to know, on one hand, while on the other, makes EET and all the more necessary for the best experience. I read on Goggle there was an issue with the EE Setup Tool, and it sounds like it has not been resolved. Does anyone a guide or some advice to get me started with EET and maybe a few mod recommendations?
Here is some threads that deal with install orders for EET: https://www.gibberlings3.net/forums/forum/13-general-mod-discussion/
It's a good start for picking the mods you like and finding a draft for an install order. If you are in doubt, post your mod list and ask for help.
https://github.com/Gibberlings3/EET/releases/tag/V13.4
I recommend *not* to use EE/EET Mod Setup Tool; if the person who maintains it said that it is a "modern fork of the dead EET mod," they have 100% misrepresented the situation to you. EET Mod Setup Tool is not a fork of EET and, like Baldur's Extended World, has nothing whatsoever to do with EET's development. It's just a third party tool made by one person who has their own personal vision of how to integrate EET with other mods. As jastey said, the maintainer of BWS/EET Mod Setup Tool does not have a good relationship with the community, using unofficial versions of the work of others and misrepresenting the situation.
You don't need any mod install tools or third party setups. It's easy to just pick the mods you want and install them in order, one by one, following the directions for EET here:
https://rawgit.com/K4thos/EET/master/EET/readme-EET.html
Great list of actively maintained mods (arranged in install order) here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vislrHkbvsqlN0m5jtDxDcSzlnA5D6ABSZy5TG1O8FQ
Really, as someone who has now spent a considerable amount of time with BG mods (installing, using, tweaking, and making), I truly feel this Google spreadsheet is the single best mod resource out there! Can't imagine going without it now, it's absolutely indispensable.
Also worth nothing this (much less comprehensive) list of mods compatible with EET
https://k4thos.github.io/EET-Compatibility-List/EET-Compatibility-List.html
I was also a newcomer not long ago (only discovered the Baldur's Gate games ~two years ago), and if you like, I can share my own personal modlist (though beware, it's very extensive, cultivated for my now 4th fresh install). However, I recommend that if this is your *very* first playthrough, it's probably just best to stick with vanilla EET, maybe SCS, and only a handful of basic content expansion mods. The reason is that you can't reliably uninstall/install new mods in the middle of a playthrough. That's a huge problem, so it means you must get your mod list and install order right before you start a new game.
Every time I start with a fresh install, I arrange them in the right install order by manually editing the mod file names on each archive, adding a number in front, from 001 and so on. Using the numbers in the Google spreadsheet listed above works well (because these are already arranged in more or less the correct install order).
@Ulkesh Sure thing! I'm in the middle of a playthrough with these mods now. It took a few months to get things just right, and I actually had to delete my install and start from scratch more than once. I can confirm that the specific mod components below (in the exact install order) are working well for me with no issues at all on my EET install.
FYI, I find it best to copy and paste your Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II install folders to another location (if you're using Steam or GOG, etc) to make absolutely sure that your installation won't be altered. Also, it's easy to download an old, outdated version of a mod by mistake. That's why you should always use the Google Spreadsheet above, as it contains a link to the most updated version of every mod listed unless otherwise noted in a cell for a given mod.
Also, I've very intentionally chosen mods that don't deviate *too much* from the original content of the game, so that the dialogue, quests, and items don't feel jarringly out-of-place. This is obviously a matter of personal taste, but it's taken me many, many tries and a lot of meticulous work to find just the right combination. This means leaving out some really popular mods because, to me, they just don't fit seamlessly with the original game content. That said, the gameplay experience for me is *much* more dynamic and challenging than in the unmodded versions; it's a different experience, but for the better IMHO.
The basis of my installation is EET and SCS, because I feel this is the best way to enjoy the saga.
BTW, worth mentioning that jastey is a prolific modder, a leader in the BG modding community, and extremely helpful to newcomers (including me when I was starting out!), so always listen to jastey over me if you see conflicting info.

My piece of advice is that you should try "EE Mod Install Tool" and yes, I know that tool and developer is hated in this community and there are a lot of drama and shitty behavious but 2 things are undeniable:
1. Is much more user-friendly than the alternatives. I tried using "Project Infinity" and it's painfully slow (or was at that time, I hope the developer solved the issue since then). I remember that when you acitvated more than 5 mods the tool became almost unusable. It didn't crash, but became painfully slow to operate after that 5 mods limit.
With the other tool, you choose the mods from a list, and it automatically downloads and installs them. You need to read the mods description, obviously, to understand what options you'd like to tick, but still, it's easy and fast.
2. Roxanne (the developer) is very nice and answers any question you may have and help you solve any problem with her tool in her own forum.
Yes, I'm semi-aware of all the drama but from a consumer point of view, I sincerely don't care if the mods included are the original author's or a patch she made. You'll notice if you try her tool that there are some mods that have options disabled, that appear in the mod's description but not in the tool, for example. If you aren't ok with that, don't download the tool and instead use PI installing 2 or 3 mods at a time, or install them manually (it takes even much more time and is harder to understand) but don't follow any opinion without trying for yourself, that's my suggestion
@tl1942 - I would love to see this as well
