Sound is not functioning in the game

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
When I play the game there is absolutely no sound. Awhile ago I tried some of the troubleshooting steps but it did not work. Has there been an update or anything to fix this? Has anyone found something new to fix this problem?
