Cutscenes

I truly have to wonder why Beamdog thought it was a good idea to replace the original cutscenes with far less expressive ones with less movement and personality, and flat-out erasing cutscenes for nashkel, cloakwood and others. After the negative reception to them you would think they would have restored them in an update. I've tried using a mod to restore the old ones, but it's only been partially successful. just my luck that spellhold studios went down. and would you believe that I tried manually removing and replacing the motion comic file from the BGEE movies folder, but it still played?

BGEE Classic Movies shouldn't have been partially successful.

Well it was, I installed it multiple times and went through every configuration and even tried manually deleting the Beamdog movies in the folders, didn't work.

I guess the movies are inside the biffed (compressed) game ressources, how did you try to delete them? I guess you need an IE editor like Near Infinity.

Just a nitpick: "cutscenes" are generally referred to the scenes in game where the controls are taken away from the player and some events happen (like the ambush in BG1 or the Promenade scene in BGII). I opened this thread thinking someone had problems with one of these.

They aren't, the WBMs are in the subfolder. I'm not aware of a mod biffing them myself (Maybe EET does it though).

On the other hand, when someone bastardizes their folder and it still doesn't work... the only reason I can think of that is because this is an unmerged Steam/GoG SoD installation, because the SoD DLC also duplicates some of the movies. While Classic Movies' readme doesn't mention the DLC merging requirement, every other mod does, so I presume OP is aware about this requirement... do they?

Really do wish they just gave a toggle in hame for old or new movies like some remasters do. I don't care that the resolution of the old movies is low that's the charm dammit.
