Is there a fix for spear animation bugs?

Hello everyone,

I think spears are underrated and look so cool for poison weapon usage with a Blackguard villain, but there is one problem...

Only the non-magical spear in the game has the correct in-game animation of using only thrusting attacks. The other spears, which are magical, don't always use the pointy end when attacking. It looks so silly...

Is there a known fix for this? I think the issue also affects BG1 EE, but I haven't come across any magical spears to test for the bug.

The version of BG2 EE I use is the one released right before Siege of Dragonspear. (I don't like the S.O.D. update)

I haven't installed any mods for my game.

Thanks for any help!

The tweaks anthology at gibberlings3 has that component. it also has about 200 other tweaks that might be interesting.

Unfortunately some of those tweaks change the rules and behaviour of the game. I'd wish it were easier
to kind of meta-create a mod with only those changes that are useful; most of the time I have to click
on "no" when installing the tweaks package.

I understand that frustration. I also dislike the multitude of no presses. What you can do (with some risk) is look at the tp2 and isolate the items that relate to the modifications of interest and comment out the rest. But you have to know what you are doing.

    The tweaks are categorized.
You can choose to just display the cosmetic tweaks so the rules changing will not be offered.

Some might say that changing the rules and behaviour of the game is a feature, not a bug; far from saying that these changes are not useful, they might say that they find them very useful indeed.

As others stated, it's completely modular and offers you the option to install only the components you want, such as cosmetic changes, and completely skip the other options. Easy enough to figure out with a cursory glance at the readme. I suppose someone could pare it down to just the cosmetic components and make a separate mod out of it, but seriously... at some point it's almost like asking someone to prechew your lunch for you.

Just an update: I tried the latest tweak pack, but the animation issue still happens, but maybe a little less often. I tested in Classic BGII and also the enhanced edition.

On my ancient computer backups from over 10 years ago I have an earlier version of the tweaks mod, and the fixpack too. It's buried deep down, but if I remember right, it might've fixed the animation bug completely. Too bad I can't find these old versions online anymore.

When I get around to finishing organizing all my backups, I'll let you guys know the results of testing the old mods.

Thank you again for your help and advice!

If you use project infinity you can create an install for the typical mods you use. cd tweaks is compatible and makes it easier to choose before you install
