Limitless NPCs in the party mod?

So after playing around with Afaaq the djinni (aka the 7th companion, kind of), I wondered how to get more NPCs into the party. Evidently the default number is limited to 6; and I am not necessarily saying I'd go to big numbers such as 24 NPCs (like ... all of them!). But what if I'd want to add one or two NPCs, thus having 7 or 8 folks in the party? Are there any mods that allow for this?

On the main map I assume this is not difficult to have, as the game engine should handle that already (e. g. we can have summonables, familiars etc...). In the menu interface, like on the right side, this may be a bit harder to achieve, as we usually only see exactly six portaits there. But it should also not be too difficult to change really - we could divide the total height by 7 rather than 6, for instance, e. g. scaling the user interface downwards (so we'd have slightly smaller portraits then, on the right hand side). Not sure if this is possible or not. Perhaps this issue does not have to be solved that way, if we can work around it, e. g. like a scroll-bar on the button (or we just use the keys from 0 to 9, so at the least 8 party members should be possible that way).

At any rate, does anyone know of any mod that tries to extend the number of NPCs in the party?

It's not possible beside the way it's done with Afaaq or Brandock.

I don't think there is any mod that has been desired by the community more since the first game was released than a larger party mod. The reality is, you cannot do it in the Infinity Engine. You'd need to port the game into a separate engine entirely. Which has been done with GemRB but it ain't perfect and you don't get all the other mods.

Very true and additional to that GemRB is not made compatible with the Enhanced Versions, if I recall correctly. But even with the original Version (which is still great) the 10 people mod would need you to do some good part of reading and choosing your other mods very carefully, probably even give them a lot of trial and error. But if you can leave out all other mods, choose the original game version and go for the 10 people mod only - that is feasable. But it would take some person determined in getting to know gemRB and stuff.

@Seewead what about then somthing like a mod that makes party members like brandock, able to follow like a familiar.

The only issue I would see is the ability to raise them on death, because I would prefer not to basically have them inmmue to to death like the Brandock mod.

But I already have a solution for this, as I've been working with Temnix and someone else to sort out all the bugs that were left in Temnix's ADN mod before he left the community. (Plus add extra)
The mod introduces a Spell called GIft of Life which allows rasing dead of party members outside the party.

The only mild inconvenience I found after sorting out all it's bugs around the spell was that if a party member died and was raised by this spell, they couldn't be ressurected on perma death by DavidW PermaDeath Ressurection with Diamonds component.

Not that the mods weren't compatible mind you, it's just raising them with GOF nullified the effect of his mod on the charecter, but raising them with normal raise dead when inparty, didn't nullify the effect.

Hi Draiken, I figure you are thinking about a mod that enables more than one additional NPC and gets that done via familiars ? In that case I haven't good news, I am afraid. Don't take my word for it (because I am not a modder myself), but as far as I know there is only ONE familiar slot hardcoded in the game. So that would be a No.

Hm. If you're really that interested: Maybe you could look into one of my favourite mods that creates all sort of magic concerning multiple NPC: The Rjali mod.

Like Nimrod85 pointed out in one of the posts above, all sorts of people were longing for mods including more that your usual 6 slots of group members. I am one of them and that's one of the reasons I like the Rjali mod so much. This mod allows you to gather a huge group of female NPC. It doesn't include more than 6 members to the group, but gives you the virtual feeling they were nonetheless. Should a comitted romance with a female NPC be reached the Rjali mod allows you to "park" that girl in the De'Arnise stronghold waiting for you and your other companions while still beeing part of the team (and without breaking off the romance despite having her technically out of the group). And you can "park" quite a number of loved ones in the keep, should you choose so, even romances coming from NPC mods, even multiple romances at the same time. When returned from the Underdark the Rjali mod even creates some huge group gatherings in the said stronghold where your group members and the "parked" girls both equally appear to be in your group, talking to each other. I have not investigated, but I suspect this is only a virtual mega-group, not technically enhancing the number of 6 members.

But maybe the author of the Rjali mod does all that not only in a virtual way, but has really found a way how to include more than one familiar at the same time ? The mod conjurs it that at least 2 familiar-kind-of-NPC (Horace and Jini) are following you all the time. I suspect they are just swapped out every time they appear. But maybe worth checking out ? Maybe you can find out how that mod author is doing all this magic.

    Hope it helps, Seawead.

@Seewead I was actually referencing the mod the OP mentioned by saying the Brandock Mod which seems very similar to the Riji Mod.

Brandock mod, which is a mod I play with, allows you to talk to Brandock when you want to add another party member and he'll follow you around as a controllable NPC like a charmed member, but able to follow you to maps and buildings which is why I said it's like having a party member as a Familiar.

I'm not good at modding, getting Temnix to show me the ropes is a difficult task in itself.
And there is two mods that allow multiple Familiars, that I know of (MSFM and Wings for aerie).

But I'm really suprised no professional modder has thought of doing this for the main game NPCs , as I always see some 7th member feature for mod NPCS here and there.
