Killing Karoug greater wolfwere

Gel87Gel87 Member Posts: 228
Yo, im a monk. Solo in legacy of bhaal. I traveled to this Island pretty late, but seems i dont have any wepons that affect him. My first plan was to use quilvering palm, but Even though im lvl 16 and has +3 fist it cannot damage him. So next plan was that i could use that silver knife. But Even with 24str from potion im not able to open that chest.
I tried twinkle and its sister wepon, but none effective and I dont have that longsword which is good vs lycans.

I can blind him and got 1100 quanti of flaming strikes from Wands, but ofc he regen faster.

So is there any way for me to kill him?

I guess i have to clua console that knife or smt xD

Im using the +2 vs lycan ammu i got from mage in house, but i got another amu from upstairs in the boat, can that ammu somehow make me able to hit him?

As far as I know there's only 5 weapons capable of hurting him and 3 of them are bastard swords. I believe he's the only character in the whole saga who cares about the material of the weapon you're hitting him with. If you don't have the long sword, can't get the knife and the wand isn't fast enough to kill him then I believe you are out of options.

I've never tried it but I believe you can attack the villagers to trigger the escape sequence without fighting Karoug at all.

You could try the cursed green scroll you can buy from Lucky Aello in East Baldur's Gate. I forget which it is, but one of them can be cast on other creatures even though it's cursed with an instant death effect. Are you able to get to strength 25 (either using Bhaal DUHM or the violet potion)? Potions of firebreath are more effective than the wand, though more limited in number.

    Thank you guys :)

I guess its cluaconsole to Get the knife :p

I think druid solo can kill him easier, lure him outside, loads of call of woodlands beeing and loads lighting + a summon to kite him with. Should be enought dps i guess. Druid can also lower his res.

I also have killed him with mage before, but i think my kit had lower res curse :p

Dont have baalpower to increase strenght further :p

there is a dagger in a chest one level before the greater werewolf that can injure him as well, if you can somehow slow him, his regen will slow down as well ( i believe he regenerates 30 hp/sec normally)

That slow part is a Nice idea :)
That dagger is the one i tried to Get. But i found out i was attempting to open the wrong chest lol xD so i found the knife, and with a combination of lucky rolls i was just able to kill him with the knife and buffed via POTs :)
(My monk has all monk kits albilies as well though.)

odd, the knife normally isnt a weapon, its just a static item, you are playing a modded game i would assume?

There is a baldurans butter knife, is that the one you mean?

I was attempting to unlock the wrong chest at level 2, but once i tried the other one i found the «silver knife».

My game is modded in the sense of selfmade kits + item upgrade mod. And im currently playing a monk with all 3 monk types in 1 clab table. Not double up of common albilities, but it has the correct value of all 3 monk class of skills.
Blind, stun, sun soulbeam, greater sun, sun soulrau, blur, mirror image, quilvering palm(added a second on lvl 18), cold fist, firefist and added 2 * shadow step.

Im already level 18, in the undead mine in siege of dragon spear :open_mouth:

But, i have also thought about making Vampire «monk» and «nature monk». I think that would be some cool monk kits :p

    Vampire monk would have:
Bat swarm, blood drain, and draw blood(ranged) + stun fist, quilvering Palm and maby some more necromancy spells on cost of sling usage. I was also playing on the thought of having a bat familiar xD just another interesting slightly OP kit to have fun on solo xD

    Nature monk would have:
Stun, quilvering palm, possible some kind of blind spell, insect plague, creeping doom, call of Lightning, etc :) possible another Lightning thunder as well, dno.

Does this work on Sarevok? If it does, that's hilarious and I have to try it.

Or better yet, save it until Siege of Dragonspear and use it on the final boss there.

@WarChiefZeke I think it should do, but I've never tried it. In fact the only thing I've ever used it on in a proper game was indeed Belhifet as a potential way to kill him in LoB. He has 100% MR in that, so the tactic is only possible for a class that can reduce MR. The effect also offers a saving throw, so doom and/or malison will help make it more likely to succeed.

Yes, tested the cursed scroll(the psn protection one) on my shaman walktrought. You actually Get 3 of theese, so if u load after a failed cast its enough to kill several bosses.

First i killed all other monsters by luring then outside where druid spells such as nymphs and call of Lightning and hold person and hold monster easy kill them.

Then i lured him out, used stoneskin to give myself time to cast «magic res» which basicly gave him 26% mr instead of 100%. Then i stunned him with 5 nymphs casting hold monsters, then i casted doom. And then on 2nd scroll he died. This scroll will also poison you if u fail save.
I could have used harm as well. Thats how my druid/fighter killed him.
