Green circle under my main character changed!?

I am having this exact problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/baldursgate/comments/w3qhez/why_did_the_green_circles_under_these_two/

At some point the green marker under my main char changed to the crosshair symbol thing that appears when you click on the ground to move your characters. Is there any way to solve this? I know it is completely harmless but it does annoy me alot. And I really do not want to start a new game.
I changed the marker settings in the feedback settings menu but that did not work.

Very thankful for help!

Shouldn't have to start a new game. Just exit and continue from a save point.

In my experience, that's a sign that you're running close to the game's asset limit (Well, it is if the circles don't come back when the characters are idle). If you keep playing that session, you will eventually reach a point where the inventory greys out, portraits disappear, and you get a game over. Save, exit back to the main menu, and resume from the save. Which resets the asset count, as you're only loading the assets from wherever you've visited this session.
(It is not possible to play all of BGEE, clearing all areas, in a single session. The asset limit will get you eventually.)

If that doesn't fix it, something more complicated is wrong. Maybe there's something badly behaved in this particular area that's really running up the asset count? In some older versions of the game, there was a problem with fireballs doing that; the temporary bits in the animation weren't being disposed of properly.

This is strange. I tried saving and loading but it does not work. Are you sure you can not explore all of BGEE in a single playthrough? That sounds strange. The thing is this happened early in my playthrough, way before I had explored much.

A single playthrough? Of course you can do it all. You'll just have to end your session and resume from a save at some point. Which any normal player would do, but I've had a few runs where I tried to "iron-man" chapters 6 and 7 because experience accumulates past the cap and only resets down if you load a save. Every time I've tried that, the asset limit has gotten to me before I could complete the game.

Regardless, your issue appears to be something else, which I don't have experience with. And so I can't tell you how to fix it, or even whether it's a problem at all.

Ok, thank you for your answers. It's really not much of a problem it just annoyed me in the beginning when it first happened but now im used to it. Also I tried solving it every way I can think of but nothing helped so I guess there is not much to do about it anyway.
