Neera's quest line

Popped over to the Wild Forest, and there is Neera's main quest line, but also a number of minor side quests. Get a new beer? Find a lost hairband? Tell someone (Daxus was it? Forget the name offhand) that he is in danger. Some quests require going back to Athkatla. Is there any particular order that is most efficient for doing all these?

Do all the others quests before doing Daxus's one.

The one I found most annoying and time-consuming is finding the cats.

The question is if you really want to do all quests. The beer quest is basically just going to
the pub in Trademeet, talking to one NPC there, then going back. The hairband is basically
visiting another area and checking one crate or container, then going back.

The others may take a little more time, save for the guy who can be angered, he just
    follows but eventually stops.

Finding the lost child can probably be done when you also steal the cats. I think I found
the lost child before all cats; I hated finding all cats, that part was tedious.

There is one more I think or two more (Wilson is part of it? The guy in the north?) and
I think for one you need to bring in some items.

If you hate that miniquest or some of it, probably it may be psychologically easier
to start with the lost cats and lost boy, as I think this takes longest. I forgot which
items are required for that talisman or whatever it was.

In later game plays I only solve the beer-quest and the necklace, because both
are quickly. I skip annoying the angry half-orc or whatever he was, largely because
I don't need his reward, but if you play a wild mage char or keep Neera then it
may be useful to keep all wild-magic related items. I also hate wild magic so
I just pick Edwin or someone else over Neera usually.

You can eliminate a lot of the weird effects of Neera's Wild magic by giving her the Robe of (not so good) Goodman Hayes.
Edwin, however is the best pure mage in the game, so he's my end of game choice for slinging spells. Neera's quest, however,
is a pretty massive undertaking, and well worth doing. Unfortunately, Neera and Edwin cannot be in the same party together, so he is going to have to take a back seat for the time being.

Neera is so good for a non-reload game! 🤣

2 diamonds, a silver necklace and 3500 cash. Easy one.

Also, is there any way I can disable Neera's spell casting? I gave her wands, a quaterstaff and a sling to try and have her use those instead of casting spells, but she insists on tossing some off here and there. I suppose I could set the game to pause after every round of combat, and micrmanage her every move, but that's a bit tedious.

Go on her character screen, customize and script. Choose none.

Also ... what the heck? She apparently is unable to use wands?? Which I guess is why she either uses spells or tries to whack things with her staff. I equipped her with a bunch of wands, but when I try to have her use them in combat, nothing happens. I'll have to expriment; maybe it's just certain types of wands she can't use.
.....Addendum: I checked her character profile and her script. Use items wasn't checked off. I activated this option; let's see if it rectified things. That's weird though; I didn't have to do that for any other mages like Jan and Nalia.
.....Addendun 2: No, the use item option wasn't the problem. Apparently she can only use certain types of wands. Lightning totally doesn't work, wands of fire do. Is this some weird thing with wild mages?
.....I checked further, and Neera can in fact use pretty much any other wand ... Fire, Frost, Cloudkill all work fine ... but she absolutely cannot use a wand of Lightning. And as I said, every other mage I have had in my party, including my Bard, can use Lightning wands with no problem. It's just Neera who is somehow bugged.

Do you mean you can't equip a wand of lightning on her, or she will not use it with her script ?

She can equip it, but when I try to have her target an enemy with the wand during combat, nothing happens. It is as if the lightning wand doesn't even exist. Every other type of wand fires off normally. It's really quite puzzling to me. And I did make sure her script was specified to use items.

You need to click multiple times with the wand of lightning because it can launch many projectiles at once.
Maybe it's why her script doesn't know how to use it.
    Try to activate it manually.

No go; again, it's like lightning wands just don't exist for her.

The wand of lightning in BG2 (with or without the EE) is just really clunky to use for anyone. You have to click six times to select the six targets for the spell, and if you misclick even once in the process (anywhere that's not a targetable creature) the whole thing is canceled.

Actually, you are correct ... I had been using a very old version of the game, v 1.3, up until a few weeks ago. And there, wands of lightning just fired a simple bolt; no need to multi-click on a target. But I just tried to use a wand of lightning with my own character a little while ago, and it's damned difficult. Who the heck in the design department thought this would be a good idea?
