Painting the map

So how do you play? Paint the whole map or just do things you want to in each map and ignore the rest? I tried both and I paint the whole map because I found I get to key chapters underpowered i.e. Mulahey at level 1/2. If I paint maps/grind I get to Mulahey level 2/3 which for me is more manageable. Then you get to the bandit camp around level 4/5 if you do everything south of the Friendly Arm. Ok, so you are slightly overpowered for the bandit camp at that point because it's no longer an "epic" battle..more a massacre. But...I prefer things slightly easy than frustratingly hard. Plus OCD.

I always do everything. I usually move pretty quickly to the Neshkel Mines (sometimes even enter at 1st lvl. That makes it a little tough, although 2nd level is pretty easy). After that I explore every thing on the southern map until I hit the Bandit Camp.

I never worry, per se, about being overpowered for anything. The thing is, if you were overpowered for one challenge, it likely means you were underpowered (and had to work much harder) for something else.

I generally do everything I can do before heading to the mines and confronting Mulahey. On my current run I think I was level six or seven by the time I got there because I was using a four person party to enable me to level quicker. I liked being overpowered because I play no reloads and I know that eventually I am going to mess up and get killed and I want to get as far as I can before that happens.
