Heretic Tample

I have encountered something weird in the Heretic Templs (part of Rasaad's Quest). In the room of Penance I told of a wrongdoing by some monks. Instead of getting the Cloak of Atonement, I was told to "bring a secret into the light". Umm, what is he talking about and how do I do it?

OK, every reference I have seen suggests that this part pf the Quest is totally borked. I'll do the other portions and see what happens. Maybe I have to screw over the Master of Combat? No clue.

The dialogue doesn't give you the cloak directly. Instead, there's a brief cutscene that takes you back out of the room, gives you the cloak, and has you talk to the "Penance Host Monk"; the area's script triggers this cutscene when the dialogue with the confessor ends. Telling you to "bring a secret into the light" is just flavor text.
(Or, if you fail the trial, there's an alternate version of the cutscene that doesn't give you the cloak. But from what you said, you didn't fail.)

Yeah, I found this out just now. I actually have the cloak on me, but the dialogue didn't suggest any such thing. I had to check my inventory to find it, and then use the glasses of Identification to tell me what the damned cloak really was. A rather annoying glitch in the program. Well, I guess it could have been worse. And the bit about bringing a secret to light was apparently just pure BS.

Isn't that dependent on the options given? Where one option is "I am a son of Bhaal" or something like that?

Glass of identification is in general required for items given so that seems logical and consistent. The other items also require identification. I think in one mod there is an option to auto-identify everything.

That actually was the secret I revealed. But the monk added in the bit about bringing a secret to light as I was leaving. Thus implying there was something wlse I had to do. But there wasn't.
