Anyone up for purely AI-driven creation of mods?

I assume that the current AI models, for the most part, may not be too terribly useful of, e. g. accepting some input, and then generating a mod (a playable mod that is). Such a mod will probably have many shortcomings and be nowhere near as good as manually crafted mods. Creativity is an area where humans shine.

Having said that, is anyone interested in looking to see what COULD be done, from an AI-driven point of view? So, 100% AI would be ideal (well, the human being still has to give the ideas and instructions what should be created, of course, so it is not 100% anyway) but also adding manual parts may also be fine if need be. One question I would love to see answered here is to showcase how far one could make it with AI. Perhaps only for simple stuff, input some background for a NPC, then have AI use or generate some NPCs possible, including portraits and dialogue. (Not sure how the dialogue could be fine-tuned but perhaps AI would also allow for this with iterations?).

TL;DR: just to showcase how far AI could be pushed to create mods, as means of comparison to existing mods.

Been recently using AI tools to fix and/or modify existing mods for my personal use (I'm not a modder so this is purely for entertainment and curiosity). It's doable, but I would say that 3 out of 5 times the code and solutions presented were garbage. You still need to know what you are doing, so it's not as simple as giving it prompts and copy/paste. I think a mod that is mostly fixing or tweaks to existing game mechanics (or fixing/reviving a long death mod) should be within the realm of possibility with the current freely available tools. Using AI to expand on a mod and fill in the blanks the author can't (due to time or lack of knowledge) I think is also doable.

Full blown NPC and quest mod/expansions written from scratch will take much more work and serious mastery of AI tools. As far as I know no one has done it (or at least admitted to using AI). It will take some time and someone willing to do it, establish guidelines/templates for others to build upon. There is a bit of a stigma related to AI and creative work, so I doubt it will be a widely popular endeavor.
