Rose , where art thou Rose?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I'm trying to find Rose the Courtesan in the Bridge district, to get clues for the Skinner murders, and she is not to be found. Other sources indicate that she infests the area near the Five Flagons Inn, bus she is def not here. I've looked everywhere. I suspect that she was collateral damage, as I did have a vampire fight near the FF, and those Cowled nincompoops showed up after some harmless spellcasting. I think poor Rose may have bought it in the crossfire. Any way to solve the Skinner murders quest without her? More detail below , minor spoilers...
I got the leather, peddler dude said it's elephant leather, there is a circus in town , I should ask the animal trainer. I only know of one circus, at the promenade. (I already did the gnome illusion palace there ) . there is no animal trainer at that circus. Maybe he's dead too, lol. I went back to the tanner (totally not sus! ) and he brushed me off. He now has 3 very not intimidating thugs in his shop.
I'm thinking of just killing the tanner and moving on. I think without Rose, I cannot complete the quest.
Other places I looked for this issue did not help, other than spawning her in console mode, which I dont think is in the Beamdog port?

    I would say pursue the tanner clues. Somehow you’re on an odd tangent I’ve not encountered. But the tanner will take you in the right direction.

    tyty, but I've run all the clues to dead ends, I don't know what else to do.

    Did you chase him down to his basement?
