Wild Magic Surges giving opposite effect

Current Behavior: Sometimes a wild surge may state that caster's level has decreased. I have noticed with Neera casting Magic Missile that when this notification pops up, she actually casts more magic missiles than she should. Example: Neera is level 5. Neera casts magic missile: wild surge, caster level decreased by one. Neera casts FOUR magic missiles. I have noticed this happening several times.

Expected behavior: The text notifications for wild surges should accurately reflect the effect of the wild surge.

I apologize if this bug has already been reported.

Just as title says.. She just hit level 3 for me a little while ago, and I went to cast magic missile expecting 2 to come out, and only a single missile blasted my foe. Bug yes? I cast another one just to make sure that it wasn't a freak occurrence, and sure enough still only one missile.

Did you see 'Caster level decreased' ? If yes, then it was just wild magic.

I have not noticed it... but that isn't to say it didn't happen. Anyway to check in game on the record screen?

No only in the battle log in the dialogue screen. Casting level of the spell can vary each time a spell is cast with a Wild Mage.

Intended behavior: Level five caster cast magic missile, level decreased by one, should get 2 missiles

observed behavior: 4 missiles, as per a level 7 cast

I should note that this has happened frequently with Neera. Haven't tried with a PC wild mage. Running BGEE straight out of the box.

Here, level was increased but lost a missile from intended behavior.

Well, Neera got wild wild magic.

    jajaja! :)

But seriously, has anyone else noticed this? Is this funkiness confined to the strange, byzantine confines of my laptop?

I think this was known issue in BG2 engine, perhaps they didn't fix it. The printed text and the actually applied change don't match.

Its not done much for me other than the time it cast the gate spell when I cast fireball at a gibbling horde. :)
I must confesses I did panic.

Expected behavior: The text that pops up when casting a spell with a wild mage reports the actual level adjustment correctly.
Current behavior: The spell level adjustment report does not seem to be tied to the actual spell level adjustment that is implemented.

This is very noticeable when casting spells like magic missile and chromatic orb. Let us say for example that my wild mage is at experience level 5 and wants to cast magic missile. So he casts magic missile and the console says "level increased by 2"; anywhere from 1-5 missiles will come out of the spell. If the console says "level decreased by 1"; anywhere from 1-5 missiles will come out. This can be repeated over and over and over with or without nahal's being used and the actual result of the spell level adjustment seems completely independent from what level is reported on the console. The ONE AND ONLY time the level adjustment is constantly reported correctly is when the wild mage is using Nahal's to cast a spell that is otherwise beyond their ability. For example when casting a reckless Improved Chaos Shield at level 5 the level adjustment ALWAYS reports "level increased by 9". This is very annoying, as you could imagine, since with most spells you can't tell the actual level just by looking at the visible effects.

Yep, I have noticed so when casting spells with Neera, and had reported it then.

    I can confirm this.
The level adjustment text in the console is most often wrong.

Still an issue. Is this going to be addressed soon? If not does anyone out there know how I could look into this myself with Near Infinity?

my 5th level Neera while casting magic missle with spell caster level DECREASED by 2 effect, fires 4 magic missles instead of 2 (so in fact caster level was INCREASED by 2)
