Noober

Just got into Nashkel and getting annoyed with Noober... so I noticed this while I was looking through Minsc's Inventory... I guess he really is annoying.

Current Behavior: Noober initiates dialogue even when you enter the Inventory screen (where the game is apparently paused). This kicks you out of the said screen and into dialogue mode with Noober.

Expected Behavior: Noober cannot initiate dialogue while player is in the Inventory screen.

Game is not immediately paused in inventory screen. The autopause occurs on other screens, I think, but I am fairly sure the inventory is not one of them. Simply pause the game before entering the inventory screen.

Yeah, but you get a better reward if you let him live.

Yeah, but you get a better reward if you let him live.

Depends what your idea of a reward is...

This should be in the Bug section, if anything. @Tanthalas, care to have a look?

Would be much better to just have the option to remove his tongue.

Click Noober, Press Enter; Click Noober, Press Enter; repeat till he goes away. takes about a minute or so of good spamming.

Actually, in my game I had to initiate dialog with Noober in order to start the spam and get that 400 exp. Thought it was a change in the game, guess I was the one who found the bug.

In the past if you continuously talk to him over and over, you eventually get him to run out of things to say and you get xp for doing so.

I've polymorphed him in the past, however...

I would mention that the *best* reward is waiting until he's finished and then shooting him in the back as he walks away.

Just start dialogs with Noober by yourself. It's faster and after about 20th time he will go away.

Ahh. I thought entering the Inventory screen pauses the game automatically as it did in BGII?

Try this: Make sure the game is NOT paused, press 'i' to open the Inventory page, and just above the backpack area it will say "PAUSED".

Now try this: Go back to game and press Space to pause it, then press 'i' to open the Inventory page, now the box above the backpack area doesn't say "PAUSED" or anything at all for that matter.

Wait, in bg2 the game doesn't pause automatically in the inventory screen, it simply is POSSIBLE for you to pause the game in the inventory screen, which wasn't possible in the first bg, and which is possible now in bgee ;)

Inventory screen does autopause. It does that on both BGII and TuTu, as well as my version of EE.

I think it should be optional, though. If only because then I could check inventory when my characters are walking around, which I found myself doing fairly often with original Baldur's gate and Icewind Dale.

Thanks for telling about the 400 xp from talking to him! Thought he didn't have any additional lines beyond the "What about now?" one, so I've never gotten that xp before.

I'd rather kill him than bother with the measly 400 XP

    @Elendar
Hey, 400 XP is nothing to sneeze at early-game.

I recently encountered Noober in BG:EE, and was doing the rapid talk method that althor mentioned above, but it seemed to be taking an unusually long time and I thought, what if Overhaul changed it so Noober's lines never end, just to troll us meta-gamers? Luckily it was not so.

I would actually think more of them for doing that. it would be a pretty great prank.

That would actually make a good April Fools prank on this community - every few seconds on this site a pop up with Noober-like lines.

@PawnSlayer well if it nets me 400 xp, go ahead ;)
