I started to play in BG1:EE. Journey

Day1: Party generation

I want to make team full of mages, without warriors.

Your advices?

My first version:

Shaman, mage:conjurer ,mage:necro,cliric,bard,sorcerer?

Or may be save 1-2 slots for characters from the game?

I play on maximum difficulty.

I'd add a druid for some summons and skip one mage, but not sure if druid is an option for you. The bard can be a Blade, which can tank with defensive spin, and even do some decent damage output with Offensive spin. I also see you are missing a thief, so another option is to take one of the mages and make them ie a gnome thief/illusionist. You still get the +1 spell slot from specialist mage but get the good skill set from a thief.

With enough wand users, you can pass BG1 quite well without fighters.

I'm tot agree with you. What about shaman(instead druid), mage:conjurer, fighter, ranger, bard ?

Maybe just use the characters available in-game for those classes? It is a shame to lose the personality of your companions and the classes that you want have excellent NPC versions. Hopefully you would enjoy an evil party run due to the NPCs alignment. Use an editor like EE keeper if you need to re-roll them more optimised for the difficulty setting, add kit etc i.e. powergaming.

How about Charname=Shaman, Edwin, Xzar, Viconia (change to Tiax later), Garrick (change to Eldoth later), Baeloth. The bards could be given Blade Kit so you can have a "tank" option.

Sorry, I had missed you had replied to my comment.

I'm no expert on shamans, but the little I have played I have to admit I prefer druids. Avengers are a weakspot for me since I love the Web spell and use it a lot in BG. Normally I use it with a warrior or two with free movement (ie Minsc with Spider's bane), but it can also be used to disable enemies and than focus fire them down with less effective ranged weapons from casters. Webbing and then throwing a fireball from wands or spell slots are great and the aga scorcher from wands are very deadly. Shooting at the person furthest away so the Aga schorcher hit all in front and then moving just outside the webbed area to hit multiple enemies is very effecient.

Shamans have their summoned spirits but cant do anything else at the same time. The spirits can take time to summon as well, so my personal opinion is that I prefer regular druids. Wands of summoning can also complement so that the druid instead can focus of summoning dryads for their very good AoE healing. but if you prefer Shaman, then of course you should use that. Personal preference is of course personal :)

I also see that you are now contemplating bringing warrrior (fighter and ranger). This of course change the dynamic of the group quite a bit since with a decent warrior or two in the forefront with all the AC gear you have stacked, most things in BG1 can be handled quite easily. You don't, however, add a thief. And even though it's not necessary per se, it is a "quality of live" addition to any run.

If you want to continue with your original though of not using warrior type classes (fighter/ranger/paladin/barbarian), one shaman and one druid shapeshifter is an option. Or you go for massive overkill with wans of fire and mages, or you go for massive disablers (multiple horrors/web/spook/sleep etc). In BG (both 1 and 2) I find scalable returns in shooting the same spells more than once, ie slinging away three horrors at once from three different arcane users, or three webs, or three fireballs etc. It's very rare that enemies can save all three effects in one round.

    Example:
Bard, Avenger druid, Mage (depending on kit) can all cast web
Druid, Cleric, Shaman can all summon from spell slots and skills
Bard, mages (if more than one) can use three wands of fire or fire from spell slots
Charname can get horror as a bhaal spawn skill as well (dependingon your playstyle.. )

So to try and summarize my random rambling:

    "Shaman, mage:conjurer ,mage:necro,cliric,bard,sorcerer?"

Here you have three (EDIT: Four, forgot to count the bard) arcane casters, two diviners, no thief and no clear warrior-class "tank". The cleric can tank for you though, so can the Blade bard (if you choose this kit). The bard can instead opt to sing to make ie summons slightly stronger, but IMHO, the song isn't very strong in BG1 and the bard is better used with ranged weapons (ie the xbow of speed and bolts of lightning or similar) or you can plant him/her next to the cleric with defensive spin, elven chainmail, wraith form, a buckler and some jewelry/girdles/boots.

So, just add on thief and you are good to go ;)

    Cheers mate.

I just wanted to say that if this is your first rodeo, LOB is not where I'd start off with. It's downright brutal and a random wild dog might just wipe your party.
