Unable to Edit Baldur.lua

I'm trying to activate the console following the instructions in this thread: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/8317/how-to-customize-your-game/p1

But I'm not able to successfully edit the lua file. Every time the game loads up it just overwrites the file. Figuring I can't be the only one with this problem. Any advice?

Have you tried turning it read-only to stop the game from overwriting it?

It doesn't overwrite it on load, it overwrites it on exit. Make sure you close the game before you make the change.

Also, check out your Antivirus and UAC, - just as they can block saving, they can block changes to the baldur.lua file.
