Bastard sword

in baldur gate EE in the description of bastard swords is it said that they can be used with two hands does this apply to combat or is it just the lore thing?

    In the unmodded game they can only be used one-handed. However, there is a tweak available from The Gibberlings 3 that allows you to use them both one-handed and two-handed. I always use it so that my paladin can swing a bastard sword and still get the advantage of two-handed weapon style.

    In pen and paper 2nd edition AD&D, a bastard sword was a large sword with a hilt long enough that you could just about use it with two hands (hence the alternative name Hand And A Half Sword). IIRC, they had slightly different damage stats depending upon whether they were wielded one or two handed.
    Any resemblance between actual middle ages weaponry and AD&D is purely coincidental...
