Please let me draw your character!

Hello, I enjoy sketching and doing linework (shading/colors, not so much). I also enjoy drawing character portraits and simple backdrops! Please post a description/existing artwork of your character, and I'll do my best to do them justice.

Here are some examples of what I've done:

I'll try to draw portraits generally in the order they are posted, although I may pick and choose. This is how I relax, after all. If I really, really like something, maybe I'll paint it (don't count on it, though).

Hi @hanasays, let me try and add some relaxation to your day...

My main goto character is Gusinda Greycloak. He is an Elf Male Mage/Thief, chaotic in nature; has been Good & Neutral but not evil. The tabletop version of him is a High Elf, his Greycloak surname was due to being part of the Greycloaks (his cloak he still retains and wears) at some stage of his life, when he change from his difficult to say elvish name to something a bit more common when travelling.

The currently picture being used is a likeness of 'Geralt of Rivia' (The Witcher) which is sort of how I pictured him all those years ago when he was born as my first tabletop character. Tall, strong (for being a Mage/Thief) and being a High Elf, has Green Eyes (they used to be grey). Although they generally have a light coloured hair, his was more on the gold / sandy coloured side (he was originally designed from Tolkien's Lore and was a Sindar Elf or Grey Elf).

He always uses a sword (mostly the long sword), dagger and short bow as his weapons of choice, and when he needs, he uses a staff as a blunt weapon. He can dual weild but when he does, it is sword in right hand, dagger in the left. He prefers to dress in his leather armour (greyish brown in colour if you beyond a sketch), as well as his cloak (also grey but a bit lighter).

If you choose to add a touch more relaxation in your days, could you also add his familiar. Although in the BG games, it is supposed to be a Fairy Dragon, on the tabletop (and in my headspace during the game) it is a Gold Pseudo Dragon sort of like this one... He regularly sits on Gus's shoulders, or curled up asleep on his lap when they are setup for the night. No probs in having him flying closely though, or on the ground sleeping or whatever you feel would fit the environment of course.

I hope I have added enough to give you ideas as to what he may look like... if not, I can add more comment.

Thanks in advance and sleep well (I got stressed just trying to describe!)
    Gus

The body, chin, and swords need work (I'm a little rusty; part of why I'm doing this) but here you go:

I don't draw a lot of facial hair, so thank you for the opportunity!

He sounds interesting! I'll draw him tomorrow night when I get home from work.

Got my brush settings dialed in a little bit better for this one.

@hanasays, thanks you and great work! Ar'Kamus (the Pseudo Dragon) will be happy. He will finally be able to adventure with his companion in the character sheet.

If you don't mind me asking, what tools do you use and on what platform. I have tried in the past but my artistic nature is zero, I think it may even be in the negative... I was on an Android platform with an active stylus and 'Infinite Painter' as the application. I have since given it to one of my granddaughters who has more artistic talent in her index finger than me.

Strange that not many want to take up your generous offer...

If you want some more ideas, I have heaps.

Only if you are looking for something to do, I am working on a character at the moment who hasn't been played yet. Name is Garius Grey and he is the almost opposite of Gusinda in his outlook. He is a Lawful Evil Assassin Necromancer. After he works out who he is in the game, he takes on more of the persona of his father but still holds to his own code. He specialises in poison (after finding better ways to kill rats in Candlekeep ) and dark spells (which he starts to learn with his friend and fellow adventurer, Xzar).

His looks: His is a human male that has long dark scraggly hair with a short beard and mo (sort of like this). His robes are mostly a dark grey colour with wisps of light grey (a mixture between this and this). His weapons of choice are a bone handled dagger, which is at his side, and a staff with Bhaal's Symbol on the top (like a ball or disc on the top of the staff with the image).

His familiar will eventually be an Imp, who Garius rescues from the Iron Throne (Fifth Floor when he defeats Naaman).

Thanks again for your excellent work with Gusinda.

@Gusinda Thank you, I'm glad you like it!

As for what I use, I use Affinity Photo. I love it because it was a one-time cost of I think $60 at the time, and it has more than paid for itself. I don't use Photoshop because the monthly subscription got to be too expensive for me to justify, since I won't do a yearly contract, and Affinity works just fine for digital inking and making coloring book pages (what I enjoy doing sometimes). The downside is having to make all of my own brushes, since there isn't the plethora of free brush packs available for Affinity like there is for Photoshop.

I'm always looking for interesting things to draw. Your necromancer sounds fun to draw, and I'll tackle him some time this week! Thank you for the reference images.

@Gusinda I worked on a drawing of Garius a bit. Here is the line art:
    hbAFrpW.jpg

A little more about the process: I use an iPad and apple pen to sketch an image from a reference (in this case, it was a screenshot I took of a video of a guy mixing chemicals in a lab) and then I import it into Affinity and ink it.
