@Yigor @Wisterias You have beaten Black Pits on LoB difficulty? with lvl 1 chars?
I'd like to try the same. I have created a lvl 1 sorcerer.
What should my other party members be (class wise) in order to be able to finish BP1 on LoB difficulty?

Yes. U need, at least, 1 Totemic Druid in order to pass the initial fight and kill 3 LoB Taslois. I'd suggest also, at least, 1 Fighter (or Archer) with potential Grand Mastery in bows or crossbows! 😎

I have just tested the following trio, starting on LoB from level 1:

Argos, elf, Ranger: Archer, (18/08)/19/17/9/14/15, short bow++
Drotica, elf, Dragon Disciple, 18/19/17/18/3/16, sling+
    Totica, half-elf, Totemic Druid, 18/18/16/9/18/16, sling+.

The totemic druid is necessary to summon a Spirit Animal and to pass the initial fight (familiars are not available!).
The proficiency in short bow is also helpful in the initial fight, since normally there is a short bow and 20 arrows in the arena.

Current status: level 5, Tire I-4. It goes more or less smoothly, but I replayed the fight I-1 several times in order to gain more experience. 😎

Yes, I tried it with one totemic druid and managed to get through the initial fight.
The spirit lion is extremely powerful in the qualification fight, but the question is, is the totemic druid also powerful in the endgame, with the fight with baeloth or other higher levels?

If yes, it would be a good party to have 1 sorcerer (maybe able to get to planetar in the end?), and 4-5 totemic druids? maybe 4 druids and a bard, or 5 totemic druids with summons? The question is, are the summons as powerful in the endgame of black pits or do you have to restart from scratch with a different group?

I want to create a party of 6, with 3 it is too difficult for me, I'm not as experienced as you
What would your suggestion be for the other 5 party members? (I'd like to have the main as sorcerer because I want to use that char in BG1 later on)

The XP cap in Black Pits 1 is set to 500,000 and U can't use HLA. Druids can go to level 12 and to use level 6 spells, summoning fire elementals. So, yes, druids are great at the end of BP1 too.

During the final fight, U should concentrate on Baeloth and eliminate him (normally, it shouldn't be too difficult for a full 6-men party). Don't try to kill Rakshasa cuz it will summon a Beholder! 😼

I'd suggest 1 Sorcerer, 1 Archer, 1 Totemic Druid and also 1 Berserker or Dwarven Defender as your main melee tank. Otherwise, take whoever U want, it should work. 😎

Congrats @Yigor !! I made a group of 1 sorcerer + 5 totemic druids. The first battles were ok, but I fail to pass the ogres. I do not come very far, the ogres overwhelm my party really quickly, also the summons (spirit lions).

How did you manage the 4th battle (gauntlets of ogres - 8 ogres + 1 ogre mage)?

    1) I'd suggest for your Sorcerer an underestimated level 1 spell Grease! It will slow down all Ogres for long time!

    2) Summon Spirit Bears, they will frighten some Ogres with their growling! Use also the spell Horror.

    2) Gain some levels (and some money) by remaking previous fights.

    3) Buy and use wands (fireball, frost, lightning). 🗲

Thx for the tips @Yigor ! The first one was really good indeed, grease is really strong for a lvl 1 spell, did not think that this spell is so strong.

However, I wanted to try to do the Black Pits without remaking previous fights (lorewise), and with a lvl 1 team from the start.

My sorcerer is lvl 3 (almost 4) - hence I cannot use horror - and my 5 totemic druids are lvl 4 for the fight with the ogres without remaking old fights.

But the fight is not even close, I can kill max 2-3 ogres, then it is over..
It seems my challenge to do black pits with a fresh lvl 1 party without redoing old fights to gain levels and the lob difficulty is not really possible.
Can you do it with a lvl 1 team and without redoing old fights? I do not think it is possible..

Actually, I don't like such a challenge since U'll be unable to buy all good equipment and fully exploit the potential of your characters. A critical lack of money! 😎

Otherwise, almost everything is possible. If U have enough patience, U can kill all those Ogres just with 1 good archer! Protect it from the fire and lightning (casted by Ogre Mage), buy the potion of speed, enough arrows and just run in circles hitting those Ogres. 🏹

Yes I wanted to do it without buying stuff as well ^^

Maybe I need to skip that constraint...

What is the best equipment per slot for the sorcerer which you can buy in the Black Pits? Maybe this will help..

For the totemic druids I dont care that much for the equipment, as I cant use them anyway in the main game.

Is it true that you make 165k in total in the black pits without redoing rounds? This should be plenty of gold to buy a lot of stuff?

The gameplay should be pleasant, and too many (irrational) restrictions will kill all fun imho. 😎

I'm lazy 😜 to describe the equipment per slot, U can see it in BP1 shops (the stock is renewed 2 times). Basically, use elemental protections (ring of fire protection, boots of lightning protection etc.).

More importantly, having enough money, U can sell and recharge wands to 100 charges IIRC. It's very expensive, but the unlimited use of some wands could be game-changer. ⚡

Hmm... 165k should be correct. 😎
