How to get Renal Bloodscalp's speed boots

Renal Bloodscalp when killed drops speed boots, the problem is how to kill him as if you attack a shadow thief Akanis shows up and kills you with his vorpal weapon and in EE is not possible to kill him while in the pre EE game was possible to kill him draining a stat to 0.
Still in my last run I managed to kill Renal and survive to tell it. here is my recipe: at the end of chap 6, with the Rhynn Lanthorn the inventory and ready to leave the town and begin chap7, go to the Shadow Thief guildhall with all the party but the thief invisible. The thief should use a high damage weapon like the staff of striking or the staff of the ram and must have some invisibility potions in his quick slot. When you are ready the thief hides in shadows and stabs Renal then immediately goes invisible with a potion, then waits some seconds so the round ends and he can drink an other potion and stabs again, 2 or 3 stabs are enough to kill Renal, then waits again that the round ends, picks up the boots and quaffs an other potion. Then the party can safely run away, in my game Akanis did not even appear, they reach the area exit and it is done.
In the game there are only 6 pairs of speed boots and having all the party with permanent fast movement is really convenient to move fast trough the areas and to get tactical dominance in the battle. To get one of them an evil choice at the hells trials has to be done, for those that want to play good or neutral there is the grandmaster armor.
This trick is really easy to perform and allows you to play ToB without toons moving at different speed rates, I hope it helps.

also, there are no boots of speed in the hell trials in vanilla BG2 or EEs, this must be a mod because the location of all six pairs of booties are;

back in the day, getting the boots from renal in the vanilla was indeed a colossal pain and this is how i used to do it;
in the vanilla, if arkanis was in melee, he couldnt miss because there was no attack roll and he killed you instantly, but, if he was "ranged" ( despite still using a melee weapon ) then he would actually have an attack roll, and it was a piercing weapon and it actually had to hit your AC, if he missed you lived, if he hit, you die ( and im pretty sure he was immune to invisibility and could see you anyway and protection from any weapon spells or stoneskins didnt work against him either )
so what i would do is get whoever could use the silver sword up front and put on every AC item they could on and would give them the best AC against piercing weapons and cast improved haste
if that character was skilled, they would have 5 APR with the silver sword, and could get about maybe 3 hits in before good ol' arkanis would come in
the idea here is to kill renal out right so you can start running ( because arkanis appears directly beside the attacker of renal and instagibs )
so usually you want to get renal on that first hit and wipe him out with a vorpal hit, this would give you enough time to pause pick up goodies and start running for the hills
by this time arkanis appears, but now he should be in "ranged" mode instead of "melee" mode and will not instagib unless he hits, ( but if i recall he is also hasted and he runs and attacks while he comes after you )
so make sure to get out of there like a bat out of hell and dont look back, and make sure the CHAR he is attacking has the best AC vs piercing weapons
and since you did this at the end of the game, you didnt need to go back to the docks district anyway ( or at least at this point you should have finished everything you had to do there by then )
im so glad now adays for the EEs you can just go in there and whack renal without any repercussions because getting those booties back in the day was a real pain
I missed the part that in chap 6 and 7 in EE he is not a treat, this explains why in the 3 tries I did before posting here he did not even appear, my guess was because the party was invisible.
About the boots in the hell trial I was also wrong, I was convinced for some reason that the boots was part of the loot from killing the dragon, but I never play evil so I must had misread it in some online guide.
all good, if i recall correctly the black dragon drops; robe of the evil archmagi, ring of protection +2 and some level 9 spell scrolls ( ... hmm... i want to say 3 of them... im going to go with timestop, shapechange and ... wail of the banshee is going to be my guess, and this is going off memory from 20+ years ago or so )
