Hey folks. We know this isn't that helpful for our BG2 iOS customers, but if anyone wants to, you can opt in to BG2 iOS Open Testing and play the 2.7.3 version. It will be the same one as what goes Live, whenever Apple gets it together.
Just in case anyone here didn’t already know, Apple has released the latest BGII:EE patch for iOS/iPadOS about four hours ago as of this writing. The Infinity Engine set is once again complete and up to date. Thanks to Julius and everyone at Beamdog/Overhaul for continuing to make these great games playable.
Bug report:
In the desktop version of the games if you select a campaign and then press the ESC key twice you'll end up on a black screen with no interactive controls. The only way to proceed is by using the Alt-F4 shortcut to quit the game. It affects BGEE (without SoD), BG2EE, and IWDEE.
I am having so much trouble with transferring saves and portraits etc for BGEE back and forth from my Win 11 PC and my Galaxy S25Ultra Android 16. Ive tried adb and shinjuku, ive tried Phone Link, Ive tried multi-player LAN import exports........NOTHING is working and Im just spinning my wheels. Literally the only thing I want to do is edit one of my Android save files with eekeeper and use custom portraits. I have literally been playing this game since 1997, and things used to be a whole lot easier back then. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled and somehow the game still has save games, just none of my newer ones and I cant import them back into the game. Any help?
small graphical bug report for BGEE 2.7.3 on iPad, that was introduced with the newest patch.
This bug is not present on previous BGEE iOS patch 2.5.17. Bug is also not present on PC Steam version of BGEE 2.7.3.
2.7.3 on all iOS games seem to heavily update area .tis and .pvrz files compared to 2.5.
So far I have noticed one glitch due to these updates.
Cloakwood Mine Level 3, AR1802, water graphics on temple altar are glitched.
This is how the altar looks in current BGEE 2.7.3 on iPad
When I import all related AR1802.tis and A1802xx.pvrz -files from patch 2.5.17 game file into my 2.7.3 iPad override folder, the graphic looks correct, as it was in 2.5.17.
Seems something is broken in current .tis and .pvrz files for AR1802.
Hello Beamdog, First off, thank you so much for continuing to support these classic games. It’s awesome to see the 2.7 beta rolling out on PC and mobile platforms. Could you please let us know when we can expect this update to hit the Nintendo Switch? I’d love to see the stability improvements and cloud save fixes on my handheld. Any ETA or rough timeline would be greatly appreciated!
Unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to update the console versions of EEs: those would require extensive certification processes we can’t currently support.
I advanced to BG2EE, and noticed small, but rather annoying graphical bug, which was not present in iOS BG2EE 2.5.16.
This bug is also neither present in iOS BGEE and SOD 2.7.3, nor in PC Steam version of BG2EE 2.7.3.
in BG2EE text identifying character carry weight gets blurry/unreadable whenever character carry weight gets close to encumbered status (orange text) or carry weight exceeds encumbered level (red text). When carry weight is normal (yellow text) text is presented clearly.
This bug occurs on all screens where character carry weight is presented
inventory screen
container screen
buy/sell screen
Here is inventory screen in all of the three scenarios
I am not going to be bitter and say it only took ten years or so to ease up modding on ipad. no, sir.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!
I now can have my bg2 on my ipad modded to the brim (25000 files in override) with such ease! and on the go play! yay!
Anyway, the culprit is definitely not OneDrive. I removed my Documents folder from the OneDrive backup, so it is now back under C:\Users\xxx\Documents. I then completely uninstalled both BG and Steam, reinstalled Steam on drive E: because I simply do not have enough free space on C:, and finally installed BG again from scratch. Unfortunately, the behavior is exactly the same. The game is still loading and saving files from E:\save and E:\sodsave, and it is also reading E:\Baldur.lua instead of using the expected Documents location. At this point it really looks like a regression compared with version 2.6 rather than anything related to OneDrive or an old installation carrying over some configuration. I am happy to do additional troubleshooting if anyone has ideas for useful tests, logs, environment variables, registry entries, or configuration files that would help narrow down why the game is resolving these paths incorrectly. If there is a specific diagnostic test that could confirm where BG is getting E:\ as its base path, let me know and I will try it.
Yeah, that “price button but actually free after tapping” behavior is exactly the kind of App Store weirdness that makes everyone age a few years. Glad SoD went through for you, at least. The Mac App Store approval was separate, and as Julius mentioned above, that one cleared without the same drama, so this looks like an iOS App Store side oddity rather than a blanket Apple issue. If anyone else sees the same paid button on SoD, the important bit is to stop at the confirmation prompt and make sure it says the update is free because you own the previous version. Don’t let the fruit company jumpscare you into buying your own game twice.
Unfortunately, the patch has broken all menu text in my favourite UI mod Classic UI, which is indispensable for nostalgia purposes. Would I have to expect any terrible problems with more recently updated mods if I stuck to 2.6?

It's caused by the same compatibility break that affects all UI replacement mods. Install the EE Fixpack first. It provides a compatibility fix for that issue.
Yes, it was added later. The fix is included in the master branch version of EE Fixpack on GitHub. It's basically the same as the hotfix attached to the linked comment.
I see. Thank you for the clarification. Are there more cases like this? I.e. would you advise installing the latest master instead, lest I run into other 2.7 issues? I thought that the general advice was to stick to 'proper' releases for maximum compatibility with other mods.
Indeed, unfortunately, it looks like the game is set up to only read music from one place, and that's the install:/music folder, which would not be moddable on mobile.
This would need some feature development to get working properly, so we'll add a ticket to our backlog. Thanks for bringing this up to our attention.
Hi @JuliusBorisov , just checking, any change enabling playing music from home:/music would be part of 2.8 patch?

The list of features and bug fixes for 2.8 hasn't been finalized yet. But we certainly remember that issue.

Any plans for planescape to get apple silicon support?
Standard disclaimer
That’s great news! Are there any plans to add Czech language support for Planescape: Torment as well?

With UI modding and cheat console, too! AMAZING.
