Brademante and Amyntor BGII playthrough

atcDaveatcDave Member Posts: 2,999
I've brought this team into the second game. This will likely grow to be something quite big. Their BGI run is already the longest I've ever done. Funny, a while back these posts were getting shorter and with less new AI art. But with the latest far more advanced rendering engines it has become much more exciting again.
Check out the (in progress) BGII run for Brademante and Amyntor.

A few new NPC portraits I'll be using in the game.

And I'll story board the run... as much as my limited imagination allows for...

Brad and her team are progressing nicely. They are not a particularly *strong* crew, but they are improving and have faced every challenge so far. The latest update here, was the first in this post to include video renders.

Brademante continues to journal her run through BG2, with images and videos. You can read the whole saga from Candlekeep starting here, or just the BG2 part of it here.

Brademante and her crew have just escaped from the Underdark. So her team is progressing nicely. I'd say its a fairly fast run, except I keep taking breaks to do more renders!

Check out the latest update here. Or look over the whole BG2 runthrough.

I've done a few updates now since this post, and a quite a few more video renders. These often tell a more exciting story than I can do with stills!
Be sure to check out the whole run at davesgaming blog.

I mean, it's awesome, but at the same time so cheesy. It's as if I'm watching a very cheap BG TV series with bad acting, hehe. The AI made the whole cast look like they're in a show about glamorous, modern women who put on medieval fantasy clothes and armor, but it looks silly because they still just look like they were teleported straight from our present-day world. Everyone is way too polished, and the girls look like princesses covered in perfect makeup, rather than gritty adventurers. Also, I always imagined that Minsc should be a bit detached from reality, he shouldn't have such awareness in his eyes and smile. He should be handicapped by his lack of intelligence.

Imoen laughing while another hero is sticking their hand inside the face statue with that particular grimace on her face... I mean, it's really funny to look at, but it's so detached from the reality of BG. Like, this isn't a situation where someone is trying to get their phone out of a toilet and the other is laughing at them. Because in BG, at that specific moment, no one would be laughing. It's a really dark moment when you finally reunite with Imoen, both soulless, and Bodhi just leaves you alive to play her twisted little game before trying to kill you.

Detached from the reality of BG? I’m sorry, but I’m always laughing as I go. And that “grimace” was intentionally cheesy. The sisters are happy to be reunited in spite of a tough situation, and will get through it together. If you read the post you’ll see that’s exactly the mood I’m going for.

And you know you can show whatever level of grit or “realism” you want with the renders. Style and mood are up to the user. I happen to like a combination of photo-realism and fun. So I do it all more like an ‘80s action adventure flick. And of course, that’s when I played by far the most D&D. So that is always how I’ve seen it, how I played it, how I lived it. This is about bringing my experience to life. You can render it with darker or more stylized mood exactly as strikes you right.
