Do you want the ring of wizardry to be able to stacked?

In fact, if you have two mages, you will give them one to each.

What's the point of having one more spell slot when the other mage can have 4 more ?

BTW can a cleric/mage use both a ring of wizardry and ring of holiness at the same time?

Well the whole point of wizards is to be good like. Don't they all aspire to be liches and whatnot?

Why would it be only one extra slot? In original BG1 it made all the slots only some of them wasn't visible but you could use them.

There's a mod (or mods) that removes restrictions on wearing magic items. The BG1 Tweakpack at G3? Whichever it is, I would just wait for that to be released for EE. I have to admit that I enjoy loading up a mage with a huge number of memorized spells using both rings. Not the end of the world if I can't, though.

Nice biased poll. How about "yes" or "no" instead? =\

As I wrote it before I don't believe in political correctness. Besides you can see that some people didn't know that we were able to do that in BG1. Some people didn't know about the invisible spell slots. So I had to use the word "restore".

    Yeah, but I have a strict no-mod policy. :)

@ankheg Wow, no mods? Well, I do respect your preference there. But you're missin' out my friend. :)

I'm hoping that use of mods eventually becomes a bit more user-friendly with EE, actually. Not that it was all that difficult to begin with. But an official mod installer would be sweet.

Where's the "Apathy is the only response to polls" option?

I'd love to have my old 4x 1'st level spells back,,, But I'l settle for 3x (Doubling base spells for one ring, tripling for two rings). I mean,,, I play a sorcerer, I have more spells than I know what to do with but still ^^* Being able to cast 24 magic missiles in a day really really helps with cutting down on rest times ^^* Not to mention speeds up combat vs gnats.

For BGEE I think I'm just going to limit myself to cosmetic and possibly ease of use mods for now, I've played with plenty of mods in the past, but want to keep things fairly "clean" for BGEE

I acknowledge it's too strong, but I think that the backstory does suggest more than one ring can be used.

I don't see what the big fuss is. How is this taking away from its glory? By the time you get to the second Ring of Wizardry, you probably already have 5 natural 1st Level Spells. Putting on a second one is a total waste.

Not if you are a wild mage. But then again if it isn't a big fuss why did they remove it?

Beats me. You don't see me throwing a fit about it either way. I think I've only ever stacked that ring before in, like, ONE playthrough, so...

Btw, why a Wild Mage? I can see some small merit in stacking it on a regular Mage as they have less spells (don't they cap out at 5 per level instead of 6 like a Specialist?), but why a Wild Mage?

Because NRD can be used to cast any spell with little risk at high levels and with chaos shields. Doubling your level 1 spells is like doubling your level 9 spells.

Exactly. Besides that there are some nice low level spells. In BG2 I played with double ring of acuitys sometimes instead of wizardys. (it's sad they don't affect the first level spells) Of course in BG2 you can use the infinite spell trick with a wild mage so 6 slots is more than enough.

Hehe, just tested clerics with high wisdom (19+) and high level (18+) and with a single Ring of Holiness are able to get more than 12 slots, so you can have invisible slots in BG2EE.

Do people really need so many 1st level spells to get through the game? One ring adds a satisfactory bonus which should be sufficient.

Do I NEED so many 1st level spells to get through the game? No. But there's a significant difference between needing those spells, and WANTING those spells. Some of us enjoyed being able to stack them in the original game, and were really looking forward to fully embracing the wild side of Wild mages, having played through BG2 thinking, "Oh man... I wish I had the BG1 Ring of Wizardry instead of the BG2 Ring of Wizardry! Imagine how awesome that would be!"

Nerfing should have no place in the Enhanced Editions. Its like saying "Well the original had this advantage and its not game breaking but lets screw it up for everyone anyway."
Its extremely presumptuous and the polar opposite of an enhancement. Just stupid.

Actually, what I'd like to see is the Ring of Acuity (?) that gives an additional spell slot for levels 1-4.

Yeah no need for more than 1 at a time. Plus if you have 2 mages kudos. I wish bards could use though...

I'd rather Bards had something Bard-specific, that helps with spells, but in a different way to the Ring of Wizardry e.g. perhaps a watered down version of the "Wonderous Gloves" from BG2, adding one first level and one second level spell, this woudn't be OP and would also mean you'd have to choose between wearing these or the Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise/Tazok's Gloves/Gloves of Accuracy etc.

Me: "But Garrack, why can't I wear those gloves?"
Garrack: "We've been through this. You're a mage and thus have no knowledge of music, therefore you cannot wear these cool gloves that help you remember more spells."
Me: "What? That doesn't even make sen-"
Garrack: "I HAVE SPOKEN!" *starts playing harp*
