@ajwz Not trying to start trouble or anything here, but I don't think this is a "joke". I think this is something people have a genuine interest in and it does seem very relevant to the game. Now being a forum noob I may not know the definition of "joke poll" but I do know the definition of joke...
The options aren't exactly balanced. Rather that Yes or No, you basically have Yes, because I am awesome or No, because I am retarded.

It's kind of a pet hate of mine.
I never wrote "retarded" or any pejorative term. Not that if it would be a problem. I am strictly against Political Correctness.
I'd also add that this could have been discussed as a normal topic and not as a pool. I'd prefer if the community always looked at pools as a last resort. Preferably after the theme of the pool had been debated already somewhere else and some king of agreement was reached in that a pool would serve as means to either forget about it or request something of Overhaul.
We discussed this as a beta team briefly. We decided to follow the example of the Ring of Protection, which doesn't allow stacking bonuses from similar rings.
Two similar bonuses don't stack. Two identical bonuses from identical sources definitely don't stack. (Tripling your spell slots also caused some UI issues; namely, the fact that beyond a certain point the spell slots simply ran off the screen.)
Instead of worrying about the number of level 1 spells one of your mages can cast, maybe consider having a second mage wear the second ring?

I did that. But does this mean that in BGEE2 we cannot use Wing of Wizardry and Acuity at the same time? There is a lot of items which can be stacked... why these?
@marfig Quite alright. I myself am a horrible speller and I am even worse with punctuation (especially comma vs. semicolon). If this site didn't have a spellchecker I'm sure I'd be doing plenty of that. But then again that spellchecker complains about every game related proper noun. It even whines about "Baldur's Gate". I find that quite funny and ironic.
Sorry @ankheg@elminster I just booted up my BG2 and tested it. The rings were not stackable. If I knew how I would take a screenshot that shows the inventory console yelling at me for trying to put 2 of them on Aerie. Edit: I'm talking about 2 rings of wizardry here... I missed the Acuity ring bit...
Maybe you use some kind of mod or fixpack. I've just tested tested it myself. You can!
You sure you are updated? These are from a fresh install of Baldurs Gate 2 ToB using the gog.com installer. So its not using a fixpack. I wanted to show a sorcerer and a mage, just in case there was an off chance of it not working for only one for some odd reason...
The ring in my inventory (non-selected/equiped) is the ring of acuity, which works when combined with the ring of wizardry.

I use the latest v2.5.26498. Not tried with the beta #####99 version. I have three versions of BG2. The DVD version of the BG1+2 collection, the big box version (with hungarian manual) and the bundled version (I got this with some magazine) All the same.
My understanding is they never updated the wording in the ring of wizardry you get from the mage in the Harper's building, so its the same one as the one you get from your apprentices.

To be honest, I almost never used double rings anyway(I usually have 2 arcane casters in BG1, so I spread the love).
That being said, what was the point in restricting it? People who think it was overpowered were always allowed to simply not use it. Those who *wanted* to equip two of them, now can't. What's the point in that?

@marfig are you sure about that? I would kind of like a pool party around here.
(you mean poll?)

At least, that's my understanding of it.
(sometimes I feel paranoid)
"Quite" and "quiet" are two other ones I often mix. "Everytime" instead of "every time" is another nasty habit I have.

Then again, I rest a lot to replenish my spells in case something goes wrong.
I really have to try a bard playthrough sometime.
