Good for you. I can't return to Bgt or tutu, I tried and found that graphics, loading times and no-zoom feature really disturbed me. I guess bg:ee did make me get used to those new features. Besides, while bg npc is an excellent mod, I know the content well and the most important mod for me is scs and it works on bg:ee. Plus I exclusively play on my heavily modded Ipad game nowadays, which is very convenient and stylish. Yeah, consider me a bg:ee fan ^_^
I to am considering playing bg tutu again as bgee isnt even being worked on and the new kits are riddled with bugs plus I wanna be able to carry my character over to bg2...maybe once bgee is actively being worked on again il come back to bgee.
@qwert_44643 I'm not saying that you can't or shouldn't go back to Tutu, but those aren't very good reasons to do so. You can avoid the bugs in the kits by just avoiding those kits, and it works to import from BG:EE to BG2, as long as you don't use any of the new kits.
I rather agree with the main topic. BG:EE isn't yet complete/supported enough to provide a better experience than modded Tutu/BGT in my eyes, but then the appeal of the EE always did lie in the long-term potential. In a future (assuming the current legal issues get worked out) where all significant mods have been updated for compatibility and all items on the externalization request list have been implemented for both BGEE and BG2EE, it'll be the superior version by far - but that's in all likelihood years away.
@qwert_44643 Importing EE saves does indeed mostly work, like @TJ_Hooker says: you pretty much only have to do edit in new portraits and redo your biography, and you're good to go.
I don't play just BG, I play the saga, which is why I currently stick with BGT. The additional modifications and continuity just can't be beat at this time. I do own BG:EE, if they can get the issues sorted out and move on to BG2:EE it will become a new gold standard for me. Getting some of the more important mods like NPC project out for EE will be a big help too.
I don't understand TuTu though, if you're going to do the normal import into BG2 might as well play EE I think.
BGT or BG Tutu, I don't see much difference. I always played BG TuTu since it came out. It is just the way I play. I could fire up BGT but BG Tutu gets the job done so....
I also own BG:EE and enjoy it. But I am currently playing BG2 by way of first playing BG via tutu. Just because.
The differences are small, the main one imo being consistency: characters in BGT keeping their attributes/proficiencies and amount of exp, having all the BG1/BG2 locations on one map, etc. To me it makes the whole thing feel slightly more like one continuous game. On the other hand it makes a fairly clunky install.. have had override directories with 50k files in them. Two separate installs are a bit easier to handle modding wise.
Indeed, I agree. I like BG:EE and if they can get the NPC project to work with it and come out with BG2:EE It will be vastly superior to a modded BG1+BG2. As it stands currently, that's not the case.
The difference is continuity. There is no import, nor two different sets of mods. It's the same all the way through, with one map, it feels more like a complete story, one game.

And not choosing a dwarf for the protagonist. And going out of your way for quick-fixes for the Tethoril quest... There may be more, but I'll leave it at that.
If I was able to install the original on my machine, I would go the Tutu route, but it isn't a big deal. I haven't played the game in months and probably won't - I'm losing interest.
I rarely do complete playthroughs back to back, so most of the time I haven't played in months either.. but about once or twice a year I go through the trilogy again, usually takes me several weeks.

I was bummed that I couldn't play a Dwarven Paladin/Necromancer protagonist. I think we need a kit for that =P
Or a paladin/monk half orc!
I believe there is a magician somewhere who can create at least some of the supposedly "forbidden" classes. I don't remember exactly where he dwells, but he goes under the name "The Shadowkeeper". ;-p
@DJKajuru - At one time I really wanted to play an half-elf (or elf) C/M/T. I figured if F/M/T and F/M/C were possible then why not C/M/T? I thought it would be fun for soloing BG2.

I just realized I've never played a F/M/C and I really have no particular inclination to do so. I also don't think I'd ever play a thief/mage/cleric but I'm not opposed to the idea.
@elminister - F/M/T is great for soloing BG2 due to the emphasis on thief activities, but you real miss something not having a cleric when soloing (healing, restoring, etc). Also the M/C spells can combine in some interesting ways.

I'll rather wait for it to work with BG:EE. But no one is forcing anyone to stick with BG:EE,
Okay Cartman. Bye! Don't let the door hit you on the bum on the way out!

What's wrong with having a dwarf protagonist?
Because I'm playing one atm...
i think there is 1 really good reason why BG:EE is such a good game
you can play it on your phone
ofc BGT + thousands of mods and houndreds of modders working for many years
You can't beat that with simple zoom in zoom out
maybe after few years EE will catch up with this work
