It would suck for the kids whose parents named them Shillelagh, Grease or Slow Poison
In my all-dwarf run of Icewind Dale, I had a female fighter/cleric called Shillelagh O'Connor.
Now my first charname to actually beat BGI is difficult, seeing as we're going back over 10 years here. I made a concerted effort with another dwarf f/c called Bjorni, but I'm pretty sure I didn't finish with him. I definitely won with a half-elven bard called Marcellus, but that seems too recent, relatively speaking.
I think it may have been with a human fighter, specialising in two handed weapons... called Sarovek. Real original, I know. But a pure fighter is very good for BGI, which might have been why I think I won with him.
When I was 11 I had to go on a god-awful school bonding trip for a week. I was playing BG at the time and I distinctly remember saving the game the night before I had to leave outside the Flaming Fist Headquarters, next to Tiax. That might have been with my Sarovek character.
See, if I made a comment like 'Viconia is just a teenage boys fantasy of what a woman is like', I'd just expect people to disagree

It's probably more true than most comments made against Aerie. But even if Viccy did just start as the product of a virgin's wet dream, I think she goes through enough development to be considered an actual character at least. Safana though...
But speaking of firsts though, I remember the first time facing Demogorgon. It wasn't a long fight, as I recall. Imoen and Aerie cast some spells to lower his defences, the others all attacked and then he died real quick. On the one hand, wow, look how amazingly powerful we've all gotten... on the other, it was kind of disappointingly easy.
Oh, and the first romance in the series was of course Durlyle/Delainy on Werewolf Island. That was sad... I've got a ship now full of gravy and marylebone jelly and no-one to share it with.
As a personal quirk I don't download and use other people's mods...
...but I *would* download and play *that* mod.
My first BG character was my old standard pencil/paper character, Azred the mage. Actually, his full name was Korinalhazrednadir but no one else wanted to say all that so we shortened it. He adventured around the Sword Coast with Khalid, Jaheria, Minsc, Imoen, and Branwen. Once I met Safana, though, I never used Imoen again unless I am running an all-good party.
