Weapon Style: Third Proficiency Point

bbearbbear Member Posts: 1,180
Currently, 3 pips can be allocated in Two Weapons Style and 2 pips in Two Handed Weapon Style, One Handed Weapon Style and Swords and Shield Weapon Style. I propose all type of weapons style get 3 pips. My recommendations for the 3rd Pip:

Two Handed Weapon Style:
+1/2 Attack using a two-handed weapon
(effectively +1 damage, -4 speed, critical on 19, +1/2 attack)

One Handed Weapon Style:
+1 damage using a one-handed weapon
+1 AC
(effectively +3 AC, critical roll on 19, +1 damage)

Swords and Shield Weapon Style:
+2 AC bonus against piercing, slashing and blunt
(effectively +2 AC and +2 AC bonus against missiles)

Two Weapons Style:
(effectively -2 Thaco penalty with Offhand weapon)

You can add more pips to the currently existing styles. The file is STYLBONU.2DA. Just add a new line for the style at 3 pips, e.g., "SWORDANDSHIELD-3". All but the +1/2 attack for two handed style are implementable by editing STYLBONU.2DA. You also need to edit the max proficiency tables in WEAPPROF.2DA to allow classes to take 3 pips in those styles.

Agree. This always seemed like a hole. And sword&shield is some bull right now.

Actually....Two-weapon isn't supposed to have 3 pips at all. It's supposed to be ** just like all the rest, but bioware split the benefit from the 2nd pip for some reason and added a 3rd.

Not only that, single and two-handed spec, are actually MUCH stronger then they're supposed to be, due to that doubling of crit chance on hte first point, which neither is supposed to have.

    So in other words.

Two-weapon is weaker then it's supposed to be (requiring an extra pip for full strength)

Single and Two-handed are stronger then they should be (and since they're front loaded, NO ONE takes more then 1 pip for single/two-handed since it's not worth spending another point on them).

And Sword and Shield is exactly as it should be.
