Saradush War Deer?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I just encountered a deer atop the battlements of Saradush. This is only my second time playing Throne of Bhaal, but I don't remember it being there last time (which was only six months ago). Is it supposed to be there or did it spawn on random?

    Could it be a moose?

    I hear one is an adventuring Ranger, with a squirrel companion. Or was it the other way around?

    War Deer? Do they "Deer collars"?

    Loved the conversation with him :D... Hate the game... Current playthrough keeps crashing when I go to face the Guardian...
