BG:EE Error on startup

Hello
When i start the game through Steam i get this error:
http://imgur.com/20i7fvE

I use the latest steam version of the game: 1.3.2053
Windows 7
Intel i7
Geforce gtx 760
and 8gb ram.
Everything is up to date.

I asked the steam forums without any help.
And i also asked beamdog but they do not care about anything and did not reply to my email.
This just makes me mad, its a waste of money.
Please help me.

Have a look through http://forum.baldursgate.com/categories/windows-pc as there are a few reports there which might help you. The three below were the best matches I could see.

http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/17453/steam-bg-ee-crashes-immediatly-no-startup-no-nothing looks as if installing openal32 & the 64 bit equivalent helps.
    - Check if c:\windows\system32\openal32.dll exists
    - Check if c:\windows\syswow64\openal32.dll exists

    http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/16058/cant-play-after-2-14-steam-update mentions verifying the install.

http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/15789/bg-ee-not-working-from-steam is an example where re-installing graphics card drivers helped.
    - The most recent Geforce GTX 760 driver for Windows 7 looks to be Version 344.75 - WHQL, Release Date Tue Nov 18 2014. Is that what you have.

I also have this problem, I installed the game (latest version) through the beamdog client and nothing I do can get the game to launch. I have tried:

    Uninstalling and reinstalling videocard drivers
    Reinstalling OpenAL
    Running as Administrator
Running in various different compatability modes
Even tried the standalone version of the game, without beamdog client.

Nothing works. The game worked when it was first released on the same computer,
but now it just crashes instantly when i try to run it.

    Hi @Garr426‌
A couple of others you could try.
    1. Reboot (assume you had to do this if doing video drivers but worth re-iterating).
    2. Finding your documents/baldurs/gate - enhanced edition folder, and renaming so a "clean" set of files are created.

    @‌Gate70

    Thank you so much!!
I tried suggestion number 2 and it worked like a charm.
I think the problem for me was I got a new computer a few months back and copied most of the hard drive contents over from old to new, so although the Game installation was new, it was trying to use the old baldur.ini file.
    Thanks again :)
