How to reduce XP rewards?

Lately i've been mostly doing solo playthroughs, and while i enjoy playing solo, there is one big downside - i'm leveling up way too fast. It's not too bad in BG1, but in BG2 i would often hit SoA XP cap before even venturing outside Athkatla, especially when playing a thief or a mage. And at some point that inevitably kills my enthusiasm for completing side quest and stuff.

So, what i would like to do is to mod the game in a way such as to receive only 1\4 or 1\5 of XP for kills, completing quest and so forth. Kinda like having a party without having a party. So i was wondering if anyone knows of any efficient way to do that? Obviously, editing every CRE file and every quest XP reward is not an option.

I have great solution for you - cheat! =P
Use CluaConsole to set you current XP to whatever value you deem appropriate.

Other possibility, take party members but don't use them.

Thanks, this mod seems to work very well. Though it rewrites like 4000 files, and being that it wasn't made for EE i'm a little concerned about possible bugs.

It is easier to raise the requirements for levelling up than decreasing the XP rewards. The latter requires changes to an huge amount of files (and ninja WeiDU skills if you don't want to change those files one by one), the former requires changes to a single 2da file: XPLEVEL.2DA, and that can be done easily and quickly with tools like NearInfinity.

Example: a mage requires 250,000 XP to reach level 10. You could change that to 500,000, or whatever you like, by just changing the corresponding number in XPLEVEL.2DA, while keeping unchanged the XP rewards.

Yeah, i guess it will be by far the easiest way to do it. I ended up multiplying the entire table by 6. Numbers look kinda scary now. (:
Just in case anyone else wants this, here's the adjusted XP table \ XP caps for both games. All the numbers are right... i think, though i haven't quite tested it yet.

Another way to do if you don't want to change xp table for everyone is to use near infinity and create a passive spell with opcode XP bonus [104], set it to %, if you set it to 50%, you will receive only 50% xp.

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly how it's done via EE keeper. What i don't know however is how to apply this effect to protagonist at the start of the game without making it an innate ability for every class.
But regardless, editing XP tables worked out just fine. Somewhat messes up companions, but since it is done for solo play in the first place, that's not a big deal.
