Just meet Neera, who do I replace for her?

I have six man party already, I don't like the two Xzar or Montron whatever they are called, I want her in my part because of her magic and she not paranoid like Xzar, should i give up one of these two, Imoen is with me to the end, Jaheira and Khalid is staying so it's the two strangers, but do I miss out on any quests or good items if I drop one of these two early? thanks..

Xzar and Montaron don't have any quests; if you replace Xzar with Neera and you need another fighter-type to replace Montaron, you can find the paladin Ajantis one screen north of the Friendly Arm Inn.

Well I'm a fighter/mage and Khalid is one too, so I think that's enough? And I noticed Xzar and Monatron lean towards evil? I don't think I won't evil characters because of my rep and the party's attitude.

It depends on whether you want a full party or not. A Fighter/Mage, Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid and Neera could cover all the bases - Imoen handles traps and locks, Jaheira heals, Khalid and your PC take the front lines and Neera casts.

Still, you've got a slot open, so if you're looking for another Good character you can recruit, there are a few options:

    * Ajantis, as mentioned above (Lawful Good Human Paladin)

    * Rasaad yn Bashir (Lawful Good Human Sun Soul Monk, another Enhanced Edition character) in the southernmost town of Nashkel

    * Minsc (Chaotic Good Human Ranger), also in Nashkel. Minsc is an iconic character, but he's part of a pair, like Jaheira and Khalid - if you recruit him, you may have to drop Neera for his companion Dynaheir (Lawful Good Human Invoker).

There are more Good characters, but you'll encounter them later in the game.

Just keep Monty, Xzar, Khalid and Jaheria in close proximity of each other whole you and Imoen go explore Berkeley by yourselves and they will sort this problem out do you.

Get rid of both, she makes your life alot easier and is also more fun to be around.

    She's also alot prettier too.

And, of course, there is always the option of silently disposing of one of the pairs in order to create the group you want. (e.g. kill Xzar and kick him from the party. Monty will stay and then you get the mage you really want with none of the hassle).

OP doesn't want Evil party members.

Ah, right. For some reason I was thinking he simply didn't want Xzar. Still, same can be applied to Khalid and Jaheira or Minsc and Dynaheir if he wants Neera over one of them. The pairing of NPCs was one aspect of BG that I never liked.

Kivan could be a good addition, and he is near Beregost (to the west).

Thanks for the info! I dropped the two and invited Neera, Now I have meet the Monk and Minsc? Another dilemma, so many NPC's so early in the game, but I'm keeping neera and heading to the Mines. Thanks

    Take Minsc, Dynaheir can have an accident. . . . . .

have Kahlid & Dynaheir commit suicide & get rid of Xzar & Monty. Grab Ajantis & Viconia. She may be evil & you'll take a 2pt rep hit but shes immune to magic. The sirens were like cutting thru butter with her in front. they kept casting magic & she just ignored it!! game changer for me.

I think this is your first playthrough?

Keep it simple, don't take Rasaad or Nalia, they are the later added characters. Wild Magic is a pita when everything is new, Rasaad can't fight....or do anything much BG1.
Go for Minsc and do his quest and rescue Dynaheir.
Then pick up Edwin, he will tell you why, plus he's the best mage in the game, has the most spells and that's a lot of fun when getting your head around using magic.

My advice would be to pick up Kivan just west of Beregost, in High Hedge. You've already got a fair few melee specialists, you need a good guy who shoots arrows like a boss. Picking up Minsc would be incredibly silly considering he's in another one of those inseparable pairs. I wouldn't recommend Rasaad either, again you've got plenty of melee people. There's no chance you won't like Kivan, he's a very versatile warrior.

I totally agree. High strenght so he can wear full plate mails and good for holding stuff to sell.
Give him a long bow and it's done

I'd recommend Branwen at the carnival, so much easier in BG1 of you have two characters that can heal. Later you can swap her for Yeslick.

Keep Neera, she's the most fun. One PC mage in the game hads down.y first play though I had both her and a PC wild mage. Only problems I had came from the fact I kept spamming their special spell.

    Pure chaps

Yes … Yeslick is also bomb. You can't possibly go wrong with Kivan, Yeslick, or Coran.
