Elven Druids in IWD - bug?

I am playing IWD EE on Mac OS X and went to create a druid shapeshifter. Knowing that the AD&D rules only allow a human or half-elf can to choose the druid class, I was surprised to find that I could actually make a druid having mistakenly selected elf! This changes the game dynamic a bit giving extra resistances and extra dexterity.

Anyone else notice this? This is definitely an incorrect application of the rules as I booted up BGEE to see if I could do the same there and I couldn't - druids were restricted to Human/Half-elf as expected.

    Sylvan elves in PnP can be druids. This is also how the original IWD approached it.

    Elves live in trees. Druids hug trees. You'd think they'd go together.

    I was always confused about how AD&D handled Druids. I would rather it that Druids be Elven-Specific priests as opposed to humans. Elven Rangers and Druids seem to be the most iconic to me for the race.

    Agreed, elves should be druid. Strange that IWD is the only of the 2nd ed AD&D games that allows that.
