Is general biffing still recommended for the Enhanced Editions

I have no idea what it's about, but I've heard it can improve performance. So is it still required for the EE versions?
Also, where can I find some recent Enhanced Edition discussion on this topic?

Oh I see, thank you for the explanation... so it's more or less like archiving files into a zip format.
BWS said I ended up with about 23.400 mods data, but If I get decreased performance I should General Biff, that's why I asked.
    Thank you again.

If you experience low frame rate, or lag or any kind of bad performance on a game as old as baldurs gate, that would suggest something bad about your PC. I recommend downloading ccleaner, malwarebytes, and avast. get the free versions of each, and have them scan your PC, one at a time.

Thanks for the history lesson but that's not quite it. The Infinity Engine had some ...limitations when it came to installing over 10.000 mod related files, it would occasionally stutter and cause frame-rate drops. So it's not like Baldur's Gate is performing poorly per-se.
Anyway, it doesn't seem to be the case anymore for the Enhanced Editions.
