Red Dragon Disciple and 100% fire resistant team possible?

Hey!

I thought to ask before rolling RDD, that is it possible to equip all team members with fire resistance gear in such a manner that friendly fire while casting various fire aoe would be totally negated somewhere past mid-SoA?

Another question: even if a character is fireproof, does an aoe fire spell still cause spells to be interrupted?

Not with gear alone, you'll need potions and spells for a full-party protection. Unless you roll 6 Dragon Disciples.

    It does.

It's possible, but you would find your choice of character classes and gear worn would then not necessarily be optimal for other purposes. Here's a summary list of what's available (I don't suppose it's comprehensive :)).
    Armour - 50%, 25% (Valygar only), 20%, 20%, 15%, 15%
    Flails - 20%
    Helms - 40%, 25%, 25%, 20%, 20%
    Rings - 50%, 50% (Nalia only), 40%, 40%
    Robes - 20% (several copies)
    Scimitar - 50%
    Shields - 30% (Anomen only), 25%, 10%
    Staff - 50% (fireshield charges)
    Cavalier - 20%
    Druid - 30% (at level 24)
    Dragon disciple - 100% (at level 16)

Heh, just remembered there are at two weapons with fireball procs - the Harbinger (two-handed sword) and Club of Detonation. It is nice to know that RDD will grant 100% fire resistance without gear :)

It's not practicable with a sensibly-composed full party to have everyone geared for permanent complete fire immunity.

However, you probably don't really need that. It's certainly feasible to have a couple of front-liners geared for full fire immunity (as well as still being reasonably well-equipped for melee), so they can safely run into the fiery action while others hang back and fight ranged or cast spells. In most situations, that's all you need.

Druids get two great fire resistant spells. That plus gear should get you close as you need to be.

and you really shouldn't need 100% on team. Keep your casters out of fireball range

Just those characters that are constantly in melee. The idea is to get full befefit of RDD´s breath attack plus all imaginable fire spells prefeably with at least two team members in the fray without worrying for friendly fire.

You could try keeping party buffed with cleric spell and fire shield red. Or only do a partial party like 3-4 members should be easy with just gear if done that way. Sound alike a fun run if you use the weapons you mentioned

Well that's not such a high bar, and sure, you can eventually do that. It's not even difficult.

yeah you can easily have your melee characters be over 100% on fire resistance, using your fireballs like mass cure spells for your warriors. that's how i tend to roll.

in BG2 specifically, you can rest in the underdark illithid layer until duergar show up. you can stock up on an infinite amount of fire resistance rings that way.
