Turning on party AI kills party?

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
I`m not sure what is happening in my current game. I`m in chapter 7, Everything was normal to this point. Every time I click on the party AI GUI button my whole party dies immediately.

I`ve googled this and have found nothing. Has anyone ever seen this before?

    Sounds a lot like your party got poisoned by an assassin named Marek and you did not get the cure by helping Lothander. I noticed that this script only seems to activate if AI is turned on for whatever reason. The script should activate regardless of whether AI is on or off, but that is another matter. See if you can find Lothander in central Baldur's Gate and do his quest.

    I checked my journal, I had the Marek & Lothander quest unfinished in chapter 5. I went back and finished it. WOW! It worked perfectly, I can click on party AI with no problems. I also got a sweet +2 shortbow for my main character.
