baldurs gate error on loading

in Troubleshooting
after returning to the internet after having been robbed i fixed up my dad's old computer and wanted to play some seige of dragonspear.

i install beamdog, all is well.
i install baldurs gate: seige of dragonspear, all is well.
i try to play baldurs gate, all is not well.
after about 10 seconds it just says that there was an error and a crash dump has been made and i get this message:

The Beamdog Client encountered an error trying to run Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear (Retail). Please contact Beamdog support and mention exit code: 3221225477

i have no idea on where to start to try and fix this myself as it doesn't say what's wrong at all, just an error
